Marketing Coordinator
Lose It! is looking for an inclusive, purpose-driven marketing specialist who has experience building communities through content and engagement. We're looking for a self-starter who is excited about trying new things and making an impact with the work that they do. An ideal candidate can balance both the analytical and creative sides of marketing and can execute on a project with confidence and contribute to the overall goal.
This role will report to the VP of Marketing and work to strengthen the Lose It! brand among consumer audiences and prospective employees. This role will include exposure to different elements of marketing, such as social media, brand development, media relations, email newsletters, blog management, and recruiting efforts.
This full-time position is located in our Boston office (currently remote, with plans to be in the office one to two days a week starting October 2021).
What does Marketing mean at Lose It!?
At Lose It!, we think of marketing both in terms of attracting a prospective audience to engage with our brand and in increasing existing users' activity within the app. The creative marketing team, on which this role will sit, leverage external channels in their work to engage future and existing audiences outside of our products. What will you be responsible for?
Content Generation, Creation, and Execution

  • Regularly publishing social media content on our main channels via Sprout Social
  • Experimenting with channels and messaging (i.e. short form video content on Instagram or TikTok) and iterate on findings to stay relevant with our audience
  • Create images, gifs, and videos in line with company templates that amplify the brand's voice and values
  • Editing and scheduling bi-weekly newsletter content and collaborating with the content team to develop relevant content for our members
  • Regularly posting on corporate marketing channels like LinkedIn to keep prospective employees up to date on what it's like to work at Lose It!
  • Regularly updating our website to remain up to date with our current product and hiring goals


Collaborating with various teams

  • Working with the Marketing team to plan, create and execute campaigns across marketing channels like social media, content, and emails
  • Brainstorming with in-house designers to create on-brand content
  • Work with the external PR agency to create pitches for stories featuring trendy topics or user successes


Captivating audiences

  • Engaging the audiences on our three main consumer-focused social channels (Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook) and maintaining them as platforms where we build trusted relationships over time
  • Developing relationships with members to celebrate their success and bring their stories to Lose It! employees


Communicating Ideas and Findings

  • Staying up to date with the latest marketing trends and bringing new ideas to the team for how to improve key metrics
  • Leveraging third-party tools like Sprout Social to interpret key findings from campaigns


What are we looking for in a team member?

  • 1+ years of experience with social media, marketing, PR, or something else!
  • Ability to create or repurpose content leveraging both strong writing and editing skills
  • An empathetic mindset to be able to understand the user journey to craft messages and campaigns to meet users where they are
  • A person who enjoys finding new ways to add value to our members and the business
  • Highly organized and comfortable navigating ambiguity, and managing conflicting priorities
  • An entrepreneurial mindset who gets excited about keeping projects moving, testing ideas, and iterating on learnings
  • An excitement for building communities and the exponential impact they can have
  • Someone who can navigate between big, risky ideas and small, easier changes
  • A positive attitude and the ability to resolve issues with best practices, processes, and strategies
  • Someone who lives the Lose It! Values of being Purpose Driven, Humble, Inclusive, Transparent, An Owner, and Results Oriented
  • Experience with video content and being comfortable and engaging on camera is a plus

Interview Process
Here's a quick look at what the interview process looks like for this role. Most of these meetings will be conducted virtually, with an option to meet in person for the Presentation & Working Session.

  • Introductory Call (30 minutes) with a member of our HR team to understand your career goals and if this position is a good fit.
  • Manager Call (30 minutes) to talk in more detail about how your skills and experiences can be applied to this role, and learn how you have demonstrated Lose It!'s core values.
  • Technical Assessment (1 hour) will go deeper into your experience with social media and include a 60-minute content scenario exercise. After this we'll send you a take-home assignment (~1 hour) that will help us get a sense of how you communicate and iterate on content.
  • Take-Home Assignment and Working Session (1 hour) you'll complete a take-home assignment (~1hr) that will help us get a sense of how you solve problems and iterate on ideas.
  • Final Interviews (~1.5 hours total) with a few members of the cross-functional team to get a better understanding of how you solve problems and understand what motivates you.
  • Meet our CEO to learn more about their vision for the company and talk through any last questions you have.

    Since the outbreak of COVID-19 our employees have been working remotely from their homes and some office related benefits are currently not active and/or have shifted while employees are working remotely including the addition of a one time home office stipend to reimburse employees for equipment costs. All employees will have the option to work remotely minimally through September 2021 and we will adjust that date if needed.
