Director of Terraton Marketing

 

Indigo improves grower profitability, environmental sustainability, and consumer health through the use of natural microbiology and digital technologies. Responsibilities:

 

Develop integrated marketing spend / channel strategy for all facets of Terraton Initiative (e.g., Experiment consumer-facing, Challenge, etc)

  • Take over the multi-workstream project plan for activating the Terraton Initiative across channels 
  • Report out on the Terraton Marketing & Branding integrated marketing plan 
  • Have developed an integrated marketing plan for two of near term/initial consumer-facing Terraton offerings: Website, credit card, front-end app, web app

Own the benchmarking and reporting on the positive reference of agriculture in Climate Change conversations across media, social and communities

  • Identify strategic cultural moments to intersect to drive conversation and engagement between climate change and the Terraton Initiative (ultimately changing the positive mentions of agriculture as they relate to climate change)
  • Become deeply familiar with the messaging for The Terraton Initiative and how it has showed up publicly to date. Understand our positioning in the climate conversation and where we hope to go.

Take over and lead how The Terraton Initiative shows up in September 

  • Build out and begin executing on the marketing of Terraton Certification 
  • Develop framework for constantly evaluating the success of Terraton marketing and improving our approach
  • Develop and get approved a strategic plan and budget to support the consumer product offerings within the Terraton Initiative portfolio 

Establish relationships with key leads across the organization and be recognized as the Marketing lead for Terraton 

  • Become familiar with and establish relationships with our key Terraton partners (SHI, Rodale, etc.)
  • Begin to establish / build on relationships with Terraton marketing partners (Kiss the Ground, Future Coalition)
  • Refine partnership strategy and support Terraton team’s development of new partners with associated programming

Develop marketing scorecard for consistent weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting on Terraton

  • Refine and build upon established KPI’s of the Terraton Brand & Marketing workstream. Take ownership for achieving and growing such KPIs and increasing the baseline

Competencies:

  • Effective project management, having run multi-faceted large scale campaigns and programs 
  • Understanding of channels and experience working with channel leads (PR, Digital, Paid, etc.) 
  • Demonstrated experience marketing to early adopter, passionate communities 
  • Stewardship of an effort/initiative/brand in dynamic and early stage contexts
  • Proven track record of fostering the creation of a (social) movement
  • Deep familiarity of a quantitative, performance-driven approach to marketing, consumer research and ability to execute 
  • Ability to be independently build relationships with external organizations and key influencers in the field
  • Built and lead cross functional teams of internal and external resources
  • Strong understanding of communications / PR, with proven track record of delivering movement-building communications-led campaigns
  • Leader-doer mentality -- willingness to roll up sleeves and execute tactically whenever required
  • Ability to manage strongly opinionated leaders, yet egoless in taking direction

Qualifications:

  • At least 8+ years work experience
  • 2-3+ years experience leading a marketing team across multiple channels 
  • Inside/client agency experience 
  • Management experience required; experience building a team, preferred
  • Advanced degree (e.g., MBA), preferred
  • Experience with climate change thought leaders, preferred
  • Experience working for a company or brand with climate focused mission, preferred
