Coming to Acquia as an Cloud Intern will nurture your ability to build highly resilient web-scale systems in a cloud environment and deepen your knowledge of DevOps, systems engineering, web and database technologies as well as best object oriented and agile development practices.
Acquia Interns build and ship real code during their internships. Previous interns have done everything from rebuilding user interfaces and rearchitecting Ruby on Rails apps, to adding new capabilities to our systems managing AWS clusters. Interns are paired with experienced Acquia engineers and directly embedded in our agile development teams.
Acquia Cloud runs 15,000+ EC2 servers in the Amazon Web Services cloud running a platform as a service for Drupal applications. Although we are focused on Drupal which is a PHP based content management system we utilize a wide variety of technologies on the backend, including: Ruby, Puppet, Go, Python and more. Interns do not have to be familiar with every technology we use and will undoubtedly gain experience with many technologies while at Acquia.
Job Requirements:
- New grad or pursuing a BS degree (Computer Science or Information Systems preferred)
- Strong programming experience--experience at least one compiled (C, Java, etc.) and one scripting language (Ruby, Python, PHP, etc.)
- Linux development experience (command line, SSH, etc.)
- Passion and ability to learn new technologies
Preferred Experience:
- Open source development experience (GitHub profile, etc.)
- Experience running/administering Linux servers
- Experience with Amazon Web Services
- Familiarity with Puppet
