Leader of Talent Acquisition

Markforged, located in Watertown, MA, is growing at an exponential rate and we’re looking for a highly-motivated and experienced recruiting leader who thrives in a fast-paced, growth-focused environment to help build our team. As a trusted business partner, you will craft the hiring strategy behind attracting, assessing, and hiring top talent. In this role, you will partner with our hiring managers across the organization to understand their needs, create consistent, strategic interview processes, and close high-quality candidates with little direction. You will have the freedom to experiment with new ideas and drive towards building diverse and top-tier teams.
With a focus on innovation and continuous improvement, the Leader of Markforged's Talent Acquisition will assess current tools, evaluate interview protocols and build a repeatable process that positions Markforged for hyper-growth. You will:

  • Be responsible for all aspects of recruitment on an international basis across the organization. This includes; scoping roles, posting, sourcing, screening, dispositioning, selection process and offer preparation
  • Act as a thought partner and coach to senior leadership when it comes to all things recruiting and hiring
  • Spearhead the development and execution of recruitment programs (i.e., employment branding, employee referrals, etc.)
  • Tailor recruitment programs for departments (e.g. engineering efforts, sales efforts, etc.)
  • Ensure processes, data, analytics and reporting are tracked for efficiency and effectiveness
  • Manage KPIs to ensure that the team’s processes and performance are running efficiently and/or improving over time
  • Review current TA processes to identify opportunities and determine plans for streamlining to ensure rigor, thoroughness, and a quality experience
  • Maximize value of current applicant tracking system (Lever)
  • Continuously innovate and look for new and creative ways to attract and select talent

Your experience will include:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of recruiting leadership experience
  • Subject matter expert (SME) in start ups
  • Experience developing and executing fully comprehensive recruitment programs as a central point of contact for Recruiting or Talent Acquisition
  • Possess knowledge and proficiency on all recruiting processes, programs, and tools
  • Proven success in team development
  • Drives consensus through the appropriate use of data
  • Cross-functional leader with proven ability to build rapport at all levels of the organization and leverage networks and is overall a great team player

What are some social events your company does?

Our office has periodic happy hours and company offsite parties, as well as a weekly all-hands meeting where different teams present and lunch is served.

What does your typical day look like?

Every day for me is a little different. Typically, I'd start the day by checking on the results of some multi-day experiments or pull parts out of experimental furnace runs for our metal system. Later in the day, I'd kick off the next set of experiments, which could be something like a regular print or a special furnace run.

I started at Markforged on the Solutions team. After taking the initiative to learn, attend trade shows, and help with training sessions, the growth of the applications team allowed me to graduate to the role of an Application Engineer. Markforged has continuously allowed me to use my increasing expertise and skill set to grow my career.

How do your team's ideas influence the company's direction?

Business Ops is responsible for the systems architecture, processes, and data that will allow Markforged to scale efficiently. We start every morning with team stand-up. We cover sales, channel, marketing, and office ops - so we communicate often to stay coordinated in Markforged’s fast paced environment.

What's the biggest problem your team is solving?

Making sure that as we scale we are still moving quickly. We have grown a lot, and I think the real complication is that we now have a lot of legacy products. The most important thing is that we never stop supporting customers and those products. You can't forget about your last printer while you're working on your new one.
