HR Manager


The Human Resources Manager is core to the people function of edX and will require both a strategic and tactical mindset. Our business has grown to 170 employees and will require an understanding of organizational scaling while rallying around key business goals. A focus on the continuous improvement of our business and how that relates to the development of our employees, will be critical.

You’ll also be the main point of contact for all employee relation and compliance matters so a strong understanding of state and federal employment law will be important. Since edX is in growth mode, this is an ideal role for someone who has prior experience in a rapid growth or mid-sized startup company.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Trusted HR business partner to all individual contributors, managers and executives
  • Effectively manage all employee relations
  • Understand, live, and promote edX culture and values
  • Implement and update HR systems and processes such as performance management, employee recognition, engagement and HRIS
  • Define learning opportunities and provide and facilitate trainings based on immediate or upcoming needs
  • Act as a liaison between MIT backed benefits, payroll, and compensation teams
  • Lead all HR operations activities, manage one direct report 

Experience and Skills:

  • 7-10 years in an HRBP position, with proven ability to build trusting relationships with business stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of benefits and employment law
  • Experience with the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, ramp-up and offboarding
  • Success in creating and driving effective employee relations, and retention and reward programs
  • Creative problem solving, strong project management and bias to action
  • Positive attitude and the passion for creating a positive, empowered work environment
  • Must be able to interface and effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Passion for continuously learning. Willing to experiment with new things and move the organization forward
