Pricing Consultant
The Opportunity
As a Pricing Consultant, you will support continued growth in the Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) business. The Pension Risk Transfer business represents a key component of the company’s Institutional Solutions business. As a Pricing Consultant, your role will support relationship management, transaction project management and pricing as well as underwriting within the PRT business. You will have the opportunity to apply communication, data analysis, financial analysis, and underwriting abilities within the PRT team to help achieve MassMutual’s strategy.
The Team
The Pension Risk Transfer Pricing and Underwriting team manages the pipeline for PRT transactions as they come to market, prices the transactions that meet our underwriting criteria, and assists in the transitioning of the transactions that are won by MassMutual to our operations team. It is a collaborative team that emphasizes project management, actuarial knowledge in pricing, and relationship management with external consultants, internal parties, and prospective clients. The team is driven by the unique opportunities and challenges that PRT presents as it is a growing market with new aspects always arising.
The Impact:
As a Pricing Consultant you will have an impact by being responsible for monitoring and responding to inbound communications from clients and intermediaries. Through this you will develop and maintain relationships with consultants and advisors. You will also manage transactions related to the Pension Risk Transfer business which includes, but is not limited to:
- Supporting and creating Proposals, RFP’s, Questionnaires and other related materials
- Analysis of Requests for Pricing (RFPs) and associated data to determine our appetite for the transaction
- Identifying key provisions in plans that require detailed underwriting and assumption development
- Data processing and pricing of Pension Risk Transfer transactions
The Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Data Analysis, Actuarial Mathematics or Related area
- At least 1 year of work experience in a professional setting
- Demonstrates initiative and sense of urgency; takes ownership and is results-oriented
- Ability to effectively manage and deliver on multiple concurrent deliverables
- Ability to communicate complex materials to non-technical audiences
- Comfortable dealing with ambiguity, with ability to explore multiple solutions to a problem
- Detail oriented with strong presentation skills
- Demonstrated high potential to take on greater responsibilities in the future
- Minimal travel required (~2-3 times per year) , when it is safe to do so
The Ideal Qualifications
- At least 2 years experience in Insurance or Retirement business
- Knowledgeable in aspects of pension/retirement or pension risk-transfer
