Mutual Fund Operations Consultant
The Opportunity
An entry level position in a fast paced, innovative, and collaborative environment focusing on nightly valuations and monthly N-PORT regulatory reporting.? As a Mutual Fund Consultant, you will bridge the gap between two critical processes within the Team, with the opportunity to enhance processes, procedures, and reporting.
The Team
The Mutual Fund Operations Team is comprised of six individuals who are focused on expense budgeting and accruals and mutual fund security valuation. The Expense Budgeting and Accrual employees are responsible for monthly updates to fund budgets, processing of fund expenses, quarterly board reporting, and reviewing quarterly financial statements.? The Valuation Team is focused on the nightly fair valuation process, monthly reporting to the valuation committee, quarterly reporting to the board, and oversight of third-party pricing vendors.? We have a culture of communication, understanding, and accountability.? We are a very collaborative and open team with individuals who have varying levels of education and work experience.? The team is motivated to work together, create efficiencies in their processes, create automation whenever possible, and encourages cross-training within the group.? The team started out with a single employee and has grown to six employees over the years, with continuity on the team from 1-13 years.
The Impact:
Daily responsibilities would include:
Tracking and recording a high volume of derivative transactions, with a focus on the ability to identify, research, and resolve discrepancies
Tracking and recording daily fair valuation activity
Create audit packages for interim and year end audits
Assist in analyzing nightly fair valuations
Monthly/Quarterly/Annual responsibilities would include:
Assist in the preparation and review of the N-PORT filing; including running reports, gathering data elements, populating files, tracking fund changes
Participating in vendor oversight meetings
Reviewing financial statements
Assist in the preparation and review of N-CEN filing
The Minimum Qualifications
1+ years of related business experience
Associates Degree or relevant work experience
Ability and willingness to work from 10am-7pm EST
Solid skills in Microsoft Excel
Thrives in both a team and self-motivated environment
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Ability to develop and enforce policies and procedures ?
Excellent verbal and written communication
Open to 100% Remote
The Ideal Qualifications
Bachelor?s Degree in business or accounting is preferred
Knowledge of investments, mutual fund operations, valuations, and regulatory reporting requirements
Experience in building and maintain databases
Experience in creating dashboard reporting
Experience in the area of process improvement
Strong analytical and problem resolution skills
