Central to our growth ambitions is the ability to identify strong targets, structure transactions, analyze the performance history and future outlook for a business, and ultimately guide deals from Letter of Intent to closing. We are looking for an analytical, curious, and personable team member who can help us as we scale up our M&A team in the US.
In joining Perch at this stage, you will help to unlock Perch’s capacity to continue its acquisitive growth strategy and will be a part of a team that has a direct and tangible impact on the growth and composition of the business.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Vice President of Acquisitions, and partnering with the broader team, the M&A Associate will be responsible for vetting leads as candidates for acquisition, helping to structure transactions, and driving the end-to-end process of closing deals for Perch. This will include:
- Qualifying and vetting target brands: There are >5 Million individual sellers on Amazon and we believe ~40,000 of them fit our target criteria. We receive a high volume of inbound interest from sellers and the M&A analyst will help with the initial vetting of these brands as our Business Development and M&A leadership enter deal structure negotiations.
- Financial and Competitive Due Diligence: A core responsibility will be in driving the financial diligence in our deals. This involves working with the seller to gather information, working with our broader team to validate financial assumptions, and ultimately locking in on a financial baseline. Beyond that you will own the competitive and operational diligence – you’ll use our suite of tools to ultimately help ensure that Perch is acquiring strong businesses and identifying the value at stake in deploying our own growth playbook
- Guiding the overall deal process: As you build out your mastery of the deal process, you will shepherd deals from end to end. Beyond the core financial and competitive due diligence, you will be responsible for guiding the seller through each step of the deal process, drafting initial legal documents, and working with our M&A and legal teams to get transactions closed.
About you
We are looking for an analytical, self-motivated, curious, and personable team member to join our M&A team in Boston as an M&A Associate. The ideal candidate will have 1-4 years of experience in Investment Banking, Consulting, or Private Equity. The role will require a combination of analytical strength, business judgment, and the ability to develop meaningful connections with a diverse community of entrepreneurs.
