Investment Operations Consultant
The Team
The Investment On-boarding and Administration team resides within MassMutual's Investment Management organization. Investment Management is responsible for the asset allocation associated with MassMutual's $160 billion General Investment Account (“GIA”) which drives the different types of investment transactions that are pursued. The Investment On-boarding team is responsible for collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure that all operational and reporting requirements are clearly articulated and documented at the close of an investment transaction and continue to be maintained and improved over the life of the transaction.
The Impact
The primary responsibility of the Investment Operations Consultant will be to learn the unique structure of each transaction, leverage financial and accounting acumen to determine and share requirements with cross-functional business partners, and present them to the manager or sponsor of the investment. This role will be accountable for partnering with the manager or sponsor to ensure requirements are met and will be responsible for the escalation of any gaps, which may impact closing, on-going transactional activity, reconciliations, compliance monitoring and oversight. In addition, this role will partner with external service providers in understanding complex investment structures while ensuring that we minimize operational risk and optimize operational efficiency and effectiveness.
The Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant investment, investment operations/support experience
- Prior experience with investing or servicing private equity, private real estate, or private credit or lending documents
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral
- Strong computer skills including experience with financial applications
- Ability to work closely with portfolio managers, other operations team members, legal professionals and service providers supporting program
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work in a fast paced, team environment and with outside constituents with tight deadlines and high expectations for our program
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point and Word; BI (Tableau, etc.) VBA and Visio experience a plus)
