POSITION SUMMARY:

Financial Planning & Analysis seeks an exceptional leader to join our organization to lead a visualization and insights team focused on the following objectives:

  • Apply Data Science techniques to solve real world financial problems and generate actionable insights
  • Develop analytical skills across Corporate Finance by driving adoption of common solutions for reporting, visualization and advanced analytics

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Corporate Finance Organization began a transformation journey to achieve our CFO’s vision and goals by 2020 and data analytics is central to the “CFO 2020” strategy. As part of this transformation, Corporate Finance established a Data & Analytics Office that is tasked with delivering industry-leading capabilities in Finance data management and analytics.

The Finance Data & Analytics Office seeks an exceptional leader to join our organization to lead a reporting and insights team focused on the following objectives:

  • Simplify business processes and enable self-service analytics in support of greater efficiencies and timely insights for corporate finance functions
  • Modernize reporting and analytics capabilities by leveraging innovative new technologies including Data Preparation and Visualization and Natural Language Generation (NLG)
  • Apply Data Science techniques to solve real world problems and generate actionable insights
  • Establish the core Financial Insights team and help drive the overall Finance transformation efforts, ensuring adoption/integration of team across the organization, enabling the division to move into next-gen Finance
  • Develop analytical skills across Corporate Finance by driving adoption of common solutions for data preparation, reporting, visualization and Data Science

Our goal is to create a team of innovative, high-performing, collaborative, and resourceful people who like to think big, test ideas, and are dedicated to their ideas to see programs through from conception to delivery. This role will be based out of our Boston, MA office and will lead multiple cross-functional teams collaborating with internal experts across Corporate Finance, Information Technology, and Business Units. This position reports to the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis.

KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner with Corporate Finance functions to frame, structure and design solutions to business problems where data and visualization tools can have the biggest impact to drive efficiencies and informed business decisions
  • Lead cross-functional agile teams to implement key data visualization initiatives – assess current state, develop strategy and implement high value added solutions
  • Apply design thinking to help redesign Finance reporting processes leveraging automation and other innovative data/analytical technologies
  • Create a Finance Data Science center of excellence to deliver insights using advanced analytical techniques
  • Create business case to articulate potential benefits of changing current processes and solutions and deliver stated results
  • Manage the development of new visualization and Data Science tools to increase opportunities for self-service analytics that drives value throughout CFO and to key stakeholders
  • Continue to maintain a backlog of prioritized opportunities to deliver innovative insights in support of finance functions
  • Plan delivery sprints, create roadmap, estimate effort and skills required, work with senior Finance leaders to identify talent necessary for accelerated delivery
  • Establish standards and include appropriate governance and quality considerations from inception
  • Drive adoption by embedding business intelligence into our culture

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 15+ years of total experience with 5+ years of experience designing and implementing highly visible, complex, and wide-scope analytics solutions with successful conclusions
  • Deep knowledge and experience of modern data technology platforms (big data, visualization and analytics) with understanding of architecture and design principles for high performance and scalability of analytical or visualization solutions
  • Experience applying advanced analytical (Data Science, AI/ML) techniques and tools to solving business problems
  • Ability to build, coach, inspire and guide cross-functional teams to successfully deliver business outcomes from data and analytics initiatives
  • Experience with creating, managing and scaling cross-functional agile teams to deliver results quickly and iteratively
  • Strong bias for action with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Change agent with successful track record driving adoption of new analytics solutions
  • Ability to smoothly deliver complex projects using effective planning, pragmatic approaches, and collaboration, despite obstacles and ambiguity
  • Business value focused with skills to discern potential use cases and high quality solutions, and reject low-impact technologies and methods
  • Experience developing a project pipeline and executing projects successfully using shared services, vendors and information technology teams
  • Financial Services industry experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Corporate Finance (Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Valuation & Modeling, Procurement) exposure and familiarity with related data, reporting and analytical use cases
