Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the monitoring, interpretation and implementation of new accounting, reporting and disclosure requirements related to SEC, GAAP and other related rules and regulations
  • Proactively identify, independently research, and document complex technical accounting and reporting matters
  • Identify potential technical accounting issues and direct the technical accounting research, preparation and review of robust accounting research memorandums
  • Serve as a trusted business partner to stakeholders within Finance, Accounting, and cross-functionally
  • Provide training to the Finance and Accounting teams on technical accounting matters.
  • Develop and maintain effective internal controls as they relate to financial reporting and technical accounting
  • Liaise with external auditors to drive timely accounting conclusions and disclosures and completion of quarterly reviews and annual audits
  • Provide advice to the M&A and Treasury team on transaction structuring, acquisition accounting, put and call options, contingent consideration arrangements and transactions with non-controlling shareholders
  • Determine what level of external support is needed during diligence and coordinate activities and support the diligence process to identify potential financial accounting risks
  • Assist with other special projects, analysis, and reporting as needed
  • Advise on deal transaction structuring with respect to accounting implications
  • Ensure PPA analysis is performed and assumptions are supportable to enable management sign-off

What you bring to the party

  • 10+ years accounting experience in the Big 4 and industry, including public company experience
  • CPA required
  • Strong, in-depth knowledge of US GAAP rules (IFRS a plus)
  • Ability to think outside the box, comfortable with ambiguity and provide suggestions and guidance in addition to having strong technical knowledge
  • Strong technical research skills, including experience with US GAAP and other accounting standards research related to mergers and acquisitions, debt, derivatives, accounting is desirable
  • Flexibility and willingness to pivot to new priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Independent self-starter with strong project management and problem-solving skills, experienced working in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and presentation skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
