Director of Accounts Payable and Disbursement (Hybrid)
The Opportunity
As a Director of Accounts Payable and Disbursement you will work in a fast paced, innovative, and collaborative environment on exciting Controller/Cash Operations directives. A Director of Accounts Payable and Disbursement interacts with other functional areas of CFO, Controller, Procurement, Operations, FP&A, Treasury, Internal Audit. This position will be responsible for all the activities in accounts payable and disbursement and will assist with the analysis, execution and implementation of corporate disbursement strategies and processes including projects that encompass changes to systems and processes aimed at removing inefficiencies, reducing manual work, and positioning Cash Operations, Accounts Payable and Disbursement team for scalability and growth.
The Team
As a Director of Accounts Payable and Disbursement, you will join the Cash Operations team, part of MassMutual's Controller organization. The Cash Operations team is motivated by the variety and challenging opportunities that substantially impact and support MassMutual operations and financial results. Team members are committed to support the organization's overall objectives and they are constantly engaged in Business Process Improvements that enhance the daily operations and the needs of our internal customers. As part of this team, you will design, build, and support all of MassMutual's accounts payable and disbursement requirements.
The Impact
As a Director of Accounts Payable and Disbursement, you will support new and emerging opportunities in the Cash Operations and Accounts Payable disbursement infrastructure ecosystems. To accomplish this, you will:
Establish and drives overall strategy to convert check to electronic payments
Establish and drives overall strategy to transition all vendors payment information, including banking instructions to our ERP system
Lead, develop and coach the accounts payable and disbursement team
Lead the Accounts Payable and Disbursement team with transformation and upgrade activities including implementing new technology solutions for the Account Payable and Disbursement organization, including harmonizing data across multiple technology platforms, administration systems
Own the research and resolution of key issues while prioritizing and managing expectations and delivery timelines
Own the Disbursement policy and sub-delegation administration. Review, maintain and communicate with stakeholders
Collaborate with the Head of Expense Accounting on the monthly and year-end payables close process
Support and recommend system implementation/upgrades for all systems as related to disbursement and accounts payable (including analyzing the potential use of blockchain technology)
The Ideal/Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
7+ years account payable experience and disbursement policy and procedures
Solid understanding of (GAAP), prepaid transactions and accruals
Full understanding of the procure-to-pay process including supplier relationships and the impact to the payables/disbursement operations
Prior leadership experience required
Experience working with sourced teams

Leading sourced teams
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with excellent time management skills
Strong computer aptitude, which includes expertise with Microsoft Excel and Word, as well as experience with account payable software (ARIBA, Others) and SAP general ledgers
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Strong attention to customer service and quality results
Ability to build relationships and collaborate on improvements
Monitor key controls to mitigate risk
