Compensation Design Consultant
The Opportunity
We're looking to hire a Compensation Design Consultant to join our team! You'll be responsible for creating, running, analyzing, and managing field compensation programs for the MMFA organization, including secondary compensation programs and General Agent retirement plans. You'll collaborate with the field, financial consultants and regions to advise and communicate programs, as well as represent the compensation design team on IT projects. You will work in a fast paced, collaborative environment researching and handling complex problem resolution.
The Team
The Compensation Design team is a high-profile team, providing tangible impacts to customers, both internal and external. The team is comprised of 5 compensation design consultants and works closely with the overall compensation design team and management that collaborates to brainstorm and problem solve. The team is heavily relied upon to provide research, innovation and solutions as well as effectively communicate with the field and internally across organizations. We partner with various areas of the company including legal, IT, actuaries, field management, operations, accounting, compliance and MMLIS. Each team member has personal ownership for specific programs yet works in a highly collaborative environment. Team members are agile, resilient and have strong communication skills. Influential leadership as well as matrix managing is critical to success. This high impact team feels a sense of accomplishment and can see immediate impacts of their efforts.
The Impact:
As a Compensation Design Consultant, your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
- Use advanced excel models to manipulate and deliver information
- Handle the administration, payments and accounting of the GA retirement plans
- Continually adjust priorities and handle multiple demands with urgency
- Design, document and model general agent and agent compensation and retirement programs
- Communicate clearly with agents and agency management to explain, problem solve and educate. Strong customer service skills.
- Provide business specification and testing support for IT development of field compensation systems/programs.
- Understand agent and GA compensation
- Engage in continuous improvement thinking, innovative problem solving, and implementing best practice policies and procedures aligning with organizational goals and objectives
- A self-starter with critical attention to detail.
The Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in an analytical, finance, accounting, or mathematical based position
- 1+ year of experience work with a field sales team or a general agency system
- Expertise in Excel (VLookups, Pivot Tables, Basic Logic) for data manipulation
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software, including PowerPoint
- Strong communication skills, both written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability working with ambiguity and exploring/identifying technical solutions
- High degree of ownership and sense of urgency
The Ideal Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in an analytical, finance, accounting, or mathematical based position within financial services
- Knowledge of the MassMutual career agency system and sales process
