Software engineering managers at Fitbit work within cross-functional feature teams and collaborate closely with designers, product managers, and other engineers. As an engineering manager you are a hands on technical manager for the 6-10 software engineers on your feature team. You spend time mentoring engineers with career guidance and day to day helping them produce the best work they are capable of. You work with product management, design, and feature team tech leads to ensure that we are balancing the competing demands of shipping quickly, creating innovative features that delight users, and developing in a sustainable way that doesn’t burden future work. You work with recruiting to identify and hire talented engineers. You work with other engineering managers to strategically plan technical features so we enable new classes of advanced product features.

 Required Skills:

• BS in Computer Science or related, or equivalent work experience
• 8 years of professional experience in software engineering, +/- equivalent educational experience
• 2 years of experience as an engineering manager / hiring manager
• Aptitude for communication and collaboration
• Enjoyment of mentoring and helping others be their best

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Previous engineering expertise in one or more platform areas
• Experience building consumer oriented products
• Experience working on highly scalable systems
• Experience collaborating with user centered product designers
