Job Description:
The VP of Software Development for the Pluralsight Flow product will have direct responsibility for the delivery of the product line, the infrastructure that enables the delivery of that product set, and in-application support for customers with internal processes and procedures to ensure that our customers are delighted. Reporting directly to the CTO, you will have visibility into business strategy and will be relied upon to prioritize technical engineering objectives and workstreams to meet those business needs. You will work closely with all parts of our engineering organization, driving priorities, empowering the directors of engineering with the tools, budget, and communications necessary for them to deliver high impact. We’re looking for someone with experience building a SaaS product, designing and communicating internal engineering processes, and leading leaders to fulfill their potential while keeping a collaborative and service-minded direction with their teams.

What you’ll own:
This role will lead a 50+ person team of software engineers and engineering managers working on our Flow product. Responsibilities include:
Product Delivery: The delivery schedule for your product features
Product Excellence: The technology and components to delight our users, improve quality, and reduce the cost of support and maintenance of your product
A Reliable Experience: ensure your product meets or exceeds the contracted SLA uptime
Growth of Team: The responsibility for the opportunities, growth, and personal development of hundreds of engineers
Organizational relationship: A direct and deep relationship with product managers, sales, and account managers
Product Strategy: inform the product strategy by bringing technical perspective to the conversation
Product Champion: strategically leveraging Pluralsight’s own products across your organization
Experience you’ll need:
Your years of experience as a software engineer with large-scale technical projects delivered have prepared you for this role. Technically trained, inquisiitve, and with excellent communication and management skills, you care about quality engineering, understand business needs, and value empathy. You are ready to work with the CTO, business and product leaders, and cross-functional leaders across the company who will look to you to get things done.
Extensive experience with shipping and operating both cloud services and on-prem solutions, with technical depth to be active in decisions about the large architectural investments
Demonstrated ability to focus product development on the top corporate objectives and priorities, and to be accountable for keeping strategic deliverables on track
Hands-on software development experience and credibility with the hands-on teams of engineers
Experience with software methodologies and software development tools for project management and issue tracking
Diagramming and development of presentations and maps and specifications for developers
Experience with content production tools, terms, and related technical and legal concerns
Experience with API management, product instrumentation, analytics, continuous development and integration, and security and audit concerns
Experience with UX and UI concepts, though we do not expect you to be a designer
Demonstrated experience leading and coaching manager direct reports
Strong cross-team and cross-department partnership skills for negotiating smart agreements
