You will be responsible for leading HqO’s global Engineering team and managing outsourced flex resources as well. Strong leadership skills and proven accountability systems to develop the team and unlock hidden talent and potential are imperative. Accurate scoping of development projects and on-time delivery of roadmap commitments are both crucial for success in the role. You’ll partner closely with the Vice President of Product to negotiate the roadmap commitments and ensure that we are building technology that drives value for customers. You will be responsible for helping shape strategic vision for HqO’s mobile, web and data products. This high-visibility role reports directly to the CTO, and will give you the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the company’s growth and success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive a results-oriented Engineering culture of business value delivery and excellence

  • Manage, motivate, and mentor local engineers and offshore contractors, comprising multiple scrum teams, to maximize delivery velocity and quality

  • Own, facilitate, and continuously improve our Agile/Scrum development process

  • Track and drive key performance metrics, objectives, dependencies, status, and results of a project portfolio spanning internationally distributed engineering teams

  • Understand our market and customer needs

  • Talk to consumers who use (or may use) the HqO platform to gather feedback and identify needs and opportunities

  • Empower Engineering teams to make data-driven decisions in order to drive product growth and stickiness

  • Oversee the success of multiple Engineering teams. You will ultimately be responsible for the delivery and quality of our products

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years experience in an Engineering leadership role, preferably mobile (iOS and/or Android)

  • Proficiency with ReactNative and NodeJS

  • Excellent problem solving, organizational, and analytical skills

  • Strong communicator - you thrive in the intersection of product, engineering, customer success and marketing

  • You are a strategic thinker with strong execution skills and a "roll-up-your-sleeves" entrepreneurial attitude

  • You are a natural collaborator who leads by influence

  • A proven track record of on-time delivery

  • Experience with agile development processes and rapid product release cycles

  • Proven ability to lead a team of Engineers, mentor next level down leaders, and build Engineering teams in a high-growth environment

  • You have Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

HqO Boston is located in Downtown Crossing. Its historic buildings house a mix of department stores, fashion and discount chains, souvenir shops, and other specialty retailers. Street vendors selling food and knick-knacks and commuters from 2 subway stations add to the daytime hustle.
