We're looking for a skilled hands-on Engineering Manager to own and continue to evolve our business critical machine learning development platform. You’ll act as a player / coach, helping to train and develop our growing team of software and machine learning engineers. You will gather feedback from our ML development teams, drive initiatives, and communicate regularly with stakeholders. You will be part leader, mentor, product manager, and engineer as you help our platform scale along with our company’s rapid growth.

Qualifications: 

  • Experience mentoring and/or building a team of engineers. We are looking for someone who can think long term about team development.
  • Ability to align engineering teams to business goals and help drive delivery.
  • Ability to bring big picture perspectives to the team while staying on-hands with the technical details.
  • Ability to act as a technical product owner - someone who will lead efforts to gather requirements, produce and own a roadmap, and lead a team to execute on it while staying in sync with the platform’s consumers: ML engineers and biomedical engineers.
  • Drive and uphold high engineering standards, bringing consistency to the codebases you encounter and ensuring software is adequately reviewed, tested, documented, and integrated.

Requirements: 

  • Engineering skills. We expect Engineering Managers to be capable of operating as a Staff-level Engineer, so you'll have spent a number of years building machine learning systems with industry-standard frameworks, such as PyTorch, Argo.
  • Management experience. You've been around the block more than a couple times, Ideally 10 years of work experience with a proven track record of managing a team of 5 or more engineers.
  • Education. Generally, a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering is really helpful in working with our team on this kind of work.
  • An insatiable intellectual curiosity and the ability to learn quickly in a complex space.
