Charles River offers a unique, fast-paced environment at the intersection of advanced research and product development. This is an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer to work with a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers to develop next-generation machine learning and robotics-based applications. As part of our team, you will play a central role in developing, testing, and maturing new software technologies across a variety of domains such as sensor processing, robot navigation, surveillance, and robotic autonomy. You will work with advanced machine learning algorithms, and apply these to novel sensors, robotic systems, and mobile devices to produce new capabilities and products.

Since our focus is to create novel, game-changing technologies, the ideal candidate will thrive in the face of changing or loosely-defined requirements, take ownership of their work, be able to work independently, and embrace learning new tools and technologies while coming up with practical solutions to challenging problems. The candidate will have a software craftsmanship mindset, and creatively contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and architecture design through field experimentation, acceptance testing, and supporting/orchestrating live demonstrations.

Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • BS in Computer Science or a related field
  • Knowledge of the Robot Operating System (ROS) and the Gazebo simulator
  • Proficiency in C++
  • 2+ years as a software engineer, or relevant software development experience

Strong Pluses:

  • Experience with rapid prototyping tools and languages (e.g. Python)
  • Knowledge of Computer Vision, Machine/Deep Learning, and/or a related discipline
  • Exposure to Scrum or other Agile software development processes
  • Working knowledge of software engineering tools (e.g., Subversion/Git, Visual Studio/gcc/CMake)
  • Exposure to mobile device development (e.g., Android, iOS)
