This is an excellent opportunity to join a top-notch team of software engineers and scientists to develop web-based enterprise systems for the U.S. Armed Forces. You will work with scientists, software engineers, and UI designers, using modern web and mobile frameworks, to develop cutting edge visualizations and interactions for both military and government applications. Your engineering input on design concepts in terms of feasibility, ideal technology, optimization, and other implementation level details is a crucial responsibility for this position.

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to develop cutting-edge intelligent systems applied to areas such as adaptive training simulations, educational games, and adaptive user interaction design. You will design and implement a variety of training technologies and leverage artificial intelligence algorithms, working in small, project-oriented groups. You will work with our Principal Investigators (PIs) to apply scientific research to real life problems in areas such as military operations and medical treatment.

Requirements:

  • BS Degree in Computer Science or Engineering 
  • 2-5 years of software development experience, including designing, programming, and documenting complex software systems on Windows and mobile devices
  • Knowledge of software engineering practices (e.g., Agile (Scrum), reading/generating software specs, following software coding guidelines, and source control)
  • Expertise with object-oriented design 
  • Programming in Java and/or C#
  • Ability to think critically and creatively to develop innovative solutions to research questions
  • Ability to work both independently and effectively within a team environment (may be expected to interact with clients and other performers)
  • Experience with user interface and interaction design and development will be considered a plus
  • Expertise with Unity, web applications, and/or graphics development will be considered a plus
  • Experience with game design and development will be considered a plus
  • Experience using artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms for analysis, behavior modeling, and/or crowdsourcing will be considered a plus
  • Code and writing samples may be requested
  • U.S. Citizenship is required
