POSITION:  Senior Software Engineer

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Position will function independently to build and implement functionality on TripAdvisor containerized Java microservices and React frontend; define, design and implement software for the applications, choose libraries, and language; analyze code at every level from HTML/JavaScript/CSS UI to Java Servlets and backend services, down to the database; lead team reviews of product specifications and design as well as code reviews; work closely with multiple teams at TripAdvisor to ensure the application architecture meets the team needs; establish software development best practices for Java and React development; establish software development best practices for Java and React development; lead platform design, implementation, testing and monitoring; independently identify and fix issues in the codebase and improve application performance; analyze and discuss software requirements with other senior stakeholders to determine feasibility of design within time constraints; mentor junior engineers; anticipate and analyze performance impact of newly developed features; independently develop and direct software system testing and validation procedures, programming and documentation; verify system performance; verify that once released, the application works as expected with limited crashes; analyze data to determine, recommend, and plan the design of features.

REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in computer science, computer engineering, information systems management, or a related field; and one (1) year of progressive post-baccalaureate work experience in the job offered, as a Software Engineer, or in a related position. Experience must include demonstrable knowledge of the following: Java, Data Structures, and Object-Oriented architectures; Rest web services; experience using containers and the Linux/Unix platform and its standard utilities; demonstrable ability to work with MySQL and PostgreSQL databases; ReactJS, Redux, JavaScript, HTML, CSS and standard libraries thereof; experience building high-volume distributed systems.
