The Senior Software Engineer – Connector Lead is a full-time position located at MineralTree’s principal offices in Cambridge, Massachusetts will be primarily responsible for designing, developing, modifying and implementing web-based Java applications to support our best in class SAAS payment system. This position serves as the lead contributor for MineralTree’s Connector team, which is responsible for MineralTree’s integration with third-party accounting packages.
Responsibilities
- Leading the development of new features and enhancements for MineralTree’s financial products and platforms
- Identifying and defining key technologies for software development, and developing applications in accordance with system architecture requirements
- Determining system performance standards
- Maintaining forward knowledge of the accounting software ecosystem and incorporate industry trends into Connector team’s planning and technical architecture
- Consulting with customers with respect to software performance and maintenance, and managing and supporting technical integrations and customer implementations as they relate to the Connector team software
- Participating in all aspects of the software life-cycle, including: definition, design, implementation, testing and delivery
- Modifying existing software to correct errors and improve performance
- Participating in customer support and resolving technical issues by researching, reproduction, and debugging production problems
- Effectively and efficiently identifying challenges and clearly communicating those challenges to the Development team
- Relying on extensive experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals while performing a variety of complicated technical tasks
- Supervise and lead the work of several Software Engineers in the development of new features and enhancements
- This role will report to MineralTree’s Senior Vice President of Engineering
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related technical field (foreign equivalent accepted); plus
- 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer or Developer, Technical Lead or related IT position working with Java and related technologies
- 3 years of experience with SaaS software deployed on Amazon Web Services
- 3 years of experience using open source search engines (SOLR or Elasticsearch)
- Experience with relational databases
- Experience building and maintaining a multi-tenant SaaS environment
- Strong understanding of server-side development of web-based concurrent applications
- Working knowledge of micro-service architectures
- Working knowledge of cryptography and management of cryptographic data
- Industry experience working with many of the top accounting package software products (including Oracle Netsuite, Sage Intacct, Intuit Quickbooks and/or Microsoft GP)
- Understanding of financial systems, specifically around payments and invoice automation technologies
- Broad familiarity with open source technologies in a Java ecosystem
- Experience leading a development team of 3+ members
- Experience developing and delivering software using Agile methodologies
- Strong communication and organizational skills
