This position is responsible for guiding efforts to ensure safety, reliability & maintainability of equipment, and processes. The role requires professional technical analysis requiring the full use and wide application of Engineering principles, theories, concepts and precedents concentrating in the area of Product Safety. This person would work with an interdisciplinary engineering team and play a large part in figuring out how to set a path for Desktop Metal’s product development for commercial and industrial products.

The ideal candidate will have deep experience of product safety and regulation in the US and world markets, including electrical, RF, Radio, and mechanical safety and compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare formal product safety compliance verification test reports for submittal to obtain product certifications;
  • Participate in product design to build safe, certifiable systems
  • Facilitate and maintain constant communications with project engineers, technicians, and manager;
  • Establish safety practices and develop concepts-of-operations for safe 3D printers and their installations
  • Define and ensure completions of product safety milestones
  • Work with test labs to schedule and perform testing
  • Review test results and when necessary conduct testing;
  • Conduct product reviews and inspections according to standards requirement
  • Participate in standards organizations to set the path for safety standards
  • Contribute to user manuals and training programs

Qualifications:

  • BS/MS in Electrical, Electronic or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is required with 10+ years of experience working in product safety and compliance
  • Solid safety technical background and hands-on experience in safety certifications of complex products and executing risk analysis to eliminate safety risks
  • Experience with electrical, mechanical, and RF safety and certification
  • Experience with product safety standards and regulations in the US and world markets
  • Experience fielding safe commercial or industrial products and installations
