Senior Mechanical Designer

Desktop Metal is presently seeking a talented and self-motivated Senior Mechanical Designer to work on our high-throughput Production system. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years experience designing and documenting complex systems as a Mechanical Designer.

The Senior Mechanical Designer will be responsible for:

  • Design of parts and sub-assemblies
  • Detailing parts and creating drawings to ANSI Y14.5
  • Producing drawings of plumbing and cabling of complex machines
  • DFM and cost reduction of existing components
  • Documenting P&IDs
  • Creating system schematics
  • Interfacing with manufacturers and vendors to ensure part quality
  • Tolerance stack analysis, including the use of GD&T
  • Maintaining a high level of communications with cross-functional team and partners
  • Working closely with program management and design teams

Basic Qualifications:

  • Expert in use of Solidworks for design and drawings
  • Broad exposure to many types of machines and equipment
  • Work samples of equivalent tasks
  • Training in ANSI Y14.5 and GD&T
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the mechanical designer field
  • Experience in Solidworks or Autocad Electrical tools
  • Proficiency with PLM systems

Preferred Experiences:

  • Large-scale capital equipment design
  • DFx
  • FMEA
  • Piping diagrams
  • Electrical Schematics
  • PCB schematic design
