AS A SENIOR DEVOPS ENGINEER YOU WILL:

We're on the hunt for a talented Senior DevOps Engineer to join our DevOps team. This engineer will assume an invaluable role in ensuring the long-term stability and scalability of our services. They will assist in building internal applications and tools to improve efficiency, automation, and system monitoring for our continuous delivery pipeline. A key requirement is the ability to collaborate with development, the motivation to learn new technologies, and the drive to continuously ensure that the end product is a high-performing, highly available and secure platform that our customers trust. 

Technical Management Responsibilities:

  • Instrument infrastructure and services with monitoring, alerting, logging, and distributed tracing tools.
  • Participate in on-call rotation, drive incident resolution, live troubleshooting and impact mitigation.
  • Proactively lead engineering team in continuous integration, automated testing and infrastructure as code
  • Run and maintain different Product environments (dev, staging, sandbox, production)
  • Provide DevOps support with scripting and programming to deploy and operate our system.
  • Help architect, build and deploy secure infrastructure in support of Dispatch Dev teams including standards for Docker environments and Kubernetes clusters hosted in AWS
  • Minimize manual work through automation and use Terraform for Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, high pressure, start-up culture that expects great things every day
  • Assist in the development of an understanding of devops practices for the engineering team. This will include but is not limited to deployments, server management, Kubernetes, networking, and security.

SKILLS WE SEEK:

  • 4+ years of experience of best practices for AWS security to help implement into the fabric of an organization and infrastructure.
  • Excited by the challenge of making systems and processes both secure and easy to use (No old-school-ops!).
  • A proactive thinker who makes data-driven decisions and can manage complex initiatives from conception to deployment.
  • Experienced with operational monitoring tools, particularly, Sensu and AWS Cloudwatch
  • Experience in pipeline automation and container orchestration tools such as Rancher and Kubernetes
  • Experience in Terraform/Cloudformation

  • Attend New Hire Training
  • Learn the Dev and Product Management processes
  • Gain exposure to Dispatch’s product suite
  • Learn about Dispatch’s tools and technologies
  • Get to know your team
  • Be part of the on-call rotation

WITHIN THREE MONTHS, YOU’LL:

  • Discussing and assisting with building out DevOps roadmap
  • Assisting in release process
  • Aid in cost analysis and troubleshooting production issues

WITHIN SIX MONTHS, YOU’LL:

  • Present at a whiteboard session for the engineering team
  • Ensure the best dev practices are being used
  • Ensure that we are releasing high quality product
  • Implementing security measures to ensure and maintain compliance for the product

WITHIN TWELVE MONTHS, YOU’LL:

  • Be an expert on Dispatch’s product
  • Partner and work cross functionally with other dev teams
  • Take full ownership of features and processes within DevOps
  • Continuously coach and mentor your teammates to accomplish projects
  • Continuously think about and work on process improvements
