Overview

The Strategic Security Team is seeking a senior security engineer/architect with in-depth, technical hands-on experience, who will help us secure Mimecast infrastructure and systems by determining security requirements; planning, implementing and testing security systems, carrying out threat modelling, security approvals, systems review and making recommendations for mitigating security risks.

Responsibilities

The following skills are essential to succeed on the role

  1. Ability to perform strategic end-to-end security design reviews at key points of software, applications and systems lifecycles to identify security requirements, any risks or capability gaps that need addressing, and be able to make recommendations about relevant security hardening and risk mitigation controls that should be implemented
  2. Ability to translate technical security risks to easily understandable risks which he or she can communicate with executives and all stakeholders across Mimecast
  3. Threat Modelling experience
  4. Understanding of secure cloud architectures
  5. Ability to work with and advise DevOps engineers to build secure-by-default systems
  6. A very good knowledge of Linux and Windows security, administration and tools
  7. A good understanding of and ability to review TCP/IP networking, security protocols and cryptographic algorithms
  8. Excellent team-working skills, self-starter, pragmatism and a "can do" attitude is crucial
  9. Willingness to learn and to keep increasing your technical skills is essential

 

Desirable (but not essential) Skills

  1. A background in penetration testing or offensive security
  2. Reverse Engineering, Application Security, Forensic and Malware research experience
  3. Proven ability to program and script in a variety of programming/scripting languages is highly desirable, as we expect you to be able to automate some of your routine tasks
  4. A degree in computing with a strong security element (a Masters or PhD is even better, but not essential)
  5. Having any ethical hacking certification such as OSCP, CEH, or CREST and other relevant certifications such as CISSP or TOGAF is a bonus but not required.

Our company is in a suburban upscale, historic neighborhood, 30 minutes outside Boston with plenty of free parking and access to all major highways.
