The Principal Infrastructure Engineer - AWS, will be a member of the Infrastructure Operations team and will help drive the definition, design and implementation of technology reference implementations, shared components and/or core frameworks, with primary focus on core infrastructure services such as Networking, Security, Automation, and Service Management, in an AWS cloud setting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work to operationalize our Amazon AWS infrastructure for go forward product development.
- Work with the members of the Architecture team to help define and recommend activities related to the design, development and maintenance of the PrismHR cloud strategy, process and methodologies.
- Identify and recommend new solutions for research and participate in proof of concept activities to continually optimize our cloud strategies.
- Promote the development of common reusable technology solutions.
- Identify technology and implementation risks to analyze the impact on PrismHR business strategies and direction.
- Work with development teams to ensure our Cloud best practices are adhered to.
- Collaborate and mentor members of the Operations team.
- Provide oversight and best practices in AWS Cloud operations.
- Continue to evolve the use of automation and configuration management.
- Participate in the creation, maintenance, testing, and execution of the Disaster Recovery plan.
SKILLS and EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years of cloud-focused experience as a 3rd level support specialist, DevOps engineer, software developer or similar
- 2+ years of Linux system administration experience, particularly supporting 3-tier web applications
- 2+ years of experience migrating and managing AWS workloads
- Expertise with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Framework
- Expertise with EC2, ECS, VPC, ELB, RDS, Route53, CloudFront, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, WAF and IDS
- AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, DevOps Engineer or Cloud Practioner Certification is a huge bonus
- Expertise with DevOps concepts, code deployment processes, microservices, serverless architectures preferred
- Automation experience with shell scripts, AWS CLI or other tools
- Comprehensive understanding of Cloud technologies such as elasticity and horizontal scaling
- Excellent problem solving and effective research skills
- Good customer service skills
- Dedication and willingness to work some alternative schedules as necessary
- Project management experience in a hands-on role
