Superpedestrian is seeking an NPI Engineer - Electrical with experience producing complex electromechanical assemblies. The role will be responsible for managing the manufacturing of electric micromobility vehicles. You should have a proven track record of moving products through production and bringing them to market. The role will require experience with PCBA manufacturing and test processes and experience working in China.


What you’ll do:

-Support new product development by ensuring that PCBAs and modules are designed for manufacturability (DFM) and that processes/procedures are adhered to in relation to quality, method and cost.

-Lead efforts to improve process capability, reduce variation, reduce overall costs and increase capacity

-Drive the execution of DFX (manufacturability, quality, cost, testability & reliability) early on in the product transfer phase. Additionally, be instrumental in evangelizing DFX concepts to R&D

-Driving improvements in assembly, test setups, yield at test, test automation, storage and retrieval of data

Provide hands-on support of test development and execution.

-Lead production risk identification and mitigation efforts including PFMEA.

-Ensure data-collection is weaved into the manufacturing process of transferred products, to facilitate SPC based analytics and data-driven decision making

-Work with R&D to drive the release of costed product BOM in the PLM system

-Interface with the R&D group in ‘pulling’ new products into manufacturing. Focused on having tools, fixturing & documentation ready in production, as and when the project passes applicable phase gates

-Ensure that all technical know-how gained during the NPI phase, is transferred effectively to Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians

-Assist in technical troubleshooting and root cause failure analysis efforts

-Prepare reports, analysis and recommendations resulting from technical investigations

-Responsible for achieving NPI project milestones. Candidate should be able to timely identify and escalate technical roadblocks to management 


What we’re looking for:

-Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent with 5+ years of direct work experience. 

-Technology transfer experience to Contract Manufacturers is required

-Must have extensive experience working on the ground with suppliers and contract manufacturers in China.

-Extensive knowledge of both prototype and production manufacturing techniques 

-Excellent communication skills to effectively work with a global supplier base and to communicate effectively with a remotely located design team.

-Ability to check detailed technical drawings of components and assemblies in a PLM system.

-Close attention to detail while being fast-paced and fast-acting.

-Experience specifying test equipment for manufacturing electromechanical products is a plus.
