We are looking for a Manufacturing Process Technician A to join our Internal Manufacturing team to help us deliver next generation materials for our 3D printers. You will be expected to have a firm grasp of every element of the manufacturing process including program planning/scoping, requirement definition, cross-department coordination / communication, and project execution and deployment. 

To thrive at Markforged, you must be able to work well in multi-disciplinary teams consisting of mechanical, electrical, software, and systems engineers. The Manufacturing Process Technician will be responsible for sustaining product quality, process design/testing, and production efficiency.

What will you own?
  • Apply working knowledge of equipment, techniques, and engineering tools to setup key processes, special projects, and strategic programs within the production facility
  • Execute test plans along with process owners and assist in data collection and analysis
  • Organize and lead hands-on build out activities that execute to established project plans 
  • Design, test, and assemble basic tools and jigs to optimize process workflow
  • Generate production level documentation (WIs / VA) to a high technical standard
  • Conduct training activities to relevant personnel and interface with Quality to fully certify operators on production processes. 
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams and departments to meet business needs and program objectives
  • Champion 6S best practices in work cells
  • Work with Materials Engineering and Reliability team to outline and implement EHS requirements  
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities through production scale up and sustainment phases
  • Ensure equipment is fit-for-purpose, processes are repeatable/stable, and user ergonomics/safety have been thoughtfully considered
  • Define and transition critical maintenance requirements to Reliability team to ensure work cell continuity

What you have:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • Minimum: Associate’s Degree in Engineering or 6 years of experience without degree
  • 2-4 years of relevant work experience in a continuous manufacturing environment
  • Experience working with electro-mechanical systems, industrial equipment, 3D printers, production tooling 
  • CAD experience (Solidworks a plus) and basic fixture design
  • Production experience working with plastics and/or materials processing (such as Nylon, fiberglass or carbon fiber) is considered a plus
  • Familiar with LEAN / Six Sigma concepts
  • Understanding of physics/material fundamentals.
  • The ability to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly.
  • Thrives in fast-past dynamic environment and able to handle ambiguous situations with maturity and professionalism
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Extremely motivated and organized individual who can be self-directed in both team-based and individual settings
  • Brings a positive “Can-Do” attitude every day that boost Markforged Culture
  • Willingness to travel between Markforged sites 10%-20%, at times working non-standard hours
  • Passion for future additive manufacturing, and experience with 3D printers
