The role of Manager, Seed Applications will be responsible for the coordination of formulations, treated seed, and protocols to primarily support field trial studies. These efforts will be to support existing products in the development pipeline as well as supporting the development of new, unproven products. This position will require excellent management skills to align efforts and timing across the Bioprocess, Formulations, Seed Treatment, Manufacturing, and Field Trial teams as well as identifying and developing relationships with external contract research partners. The Manager Seed Treatment will initially require hands on, sample preparation, but could eventually utilize and/or lead a small team. The position is based at Indigo’s offices in Boston, but will require some travel (up to ~25%) to partners as required.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate the delivery of formulations and treated seed for both US-based and international Field Trial studies
  • Source, prepare, and receive raw materials necessary for formulation and seed treatment
    • This includes active ingredients, additives, seed, and other
  • Transfer seed treatment protocols to partners to apply Indigo formulations
  • Coordinate timing with respective groups for each step required to deliver treated seed for each study
  • Identify and coordinate seed treatment both internally and with external partners
  • Document relevant information of the formulations, seed, protocols, and other details that are used as inputs to Field Trials

 

Competencies:

  • Expertise, experience, and/or the ability to apply background to coordinate and conduct seed treatment of microbial formulations and other commercial products
  • Basic understanding of microbial, pesticide, and other commercial seed treatments
  • Manage timelines and workflow across multiple groups to provide on time delivery of treated seed for research studies
  • Strong organizational skills and documentation of inputs to the product
  • Excellent communication of timelines and expectations across groups
  • Team player and advisor to Formulations, Field Trials, and Project Management
  • Experience or ability to potentially lead a small team
  • Forward thinking, innovative, flexible, and able to change directions rapidly
  • Work in a safe manner in both laboratory and production environments
  • Strong managerial skills including time management, communication, and prioritization
  • Excellent attention to detail and documentation of product inputs

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in seed treatment or other relevant industries
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in agricultural engineering, physical or biological sciences, or relevant field of study
  • Prior experience taking unproven seed treatment formulations or other relevant technologies from the lab to commercial scale
  • Experience in a technical service environment is a plus
  • The position is based in Boston and requires a full-time presence in Boston
  • Able to travel up to 25% of the time both domestically and internationally

On the edge of Charlestown, we are within walking distance to restaurants and bars. The Sullivan Square T and bus stop is also right next door! We are currently working remote/hybrid with the exception of our fantastic Biotrinsic team who work from the office and lab space here.
