The Lead Front-End Engineer is a member of the Unified Design Team (UDT), a team that works across the entire product suite to unify and modernize our enterprise-level CRM platform by building and supporting our UI framework: ProgressUI. This person works with product managers, product designers, and other engineers to build and improve the front-end experience of our products and evangelizes best practices around quality, performance, and stability of front-end code. An ideal candidate has a strong background in UI frameworks and automation of UI components, with experience and passion for delivering beautiful user interfaces. This position reports to the Director of Design.

Responsibilities

  • Own and extend our Progress UI framework to maintain product design standards for our enterprise-level CRM platform
  • Innovate and build net-new features and components
  • Ensure features are well-designed, well-tested, and can scale to millions of users
  • Continuously push the limits in React, modern CSS (flexbox, SCSS, etc.) and other frameworks
  • Manage and mentor the Front-End Engineer that reports directly to you
  • Lead and organize a new UI Guild of voluntary engineering members with a goal to shape and standardize UI development best practices across all development teams
  • Train and champion Progress UI adoption across other development team engineers to build great apps
  • Ensure you and your teammates are following good development practices and getting better every day
  • Participate in Code Reviews, respond to Pull Requests and provide feedback to your fellow engineers
  • Understand how the work that you do directly impacts our customers

Minimum Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in software engineering
  • Experience launching medium- to large-scale applications with modern frameworks (AngularJS, React, or Vue)
  • Must be able to travel at least 1 to 2 times a year; between Boston/DC office and for conferences
  • A passion for building software that matters, knowing the software you build helps make a difference in the world

  • Experience in full stack development to enable and enhance rapid-prototyping capabilities, R&D and building proof of concepts
  • Knowledge of or experience with ASP.NET and C#
