We are looking for a talented Human Factors Engineer to join our team at Vicarious Surgical. You will work with marketing, engineering, surgeons, investors, and other stakeholders to help create a surgical robot that is highly functional, easy to use, and safe. Our product is still in its initial stage, so your impact will be wide and lasting; if you’re looking to take ownership of a large project, this is the job for you.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the expert in understanding customers’ emotions and behaviors to drive design decisions
- Communicate passion and empathy for the customer in a way that inspires teams to keep iterating until the best-possible solution (within given constraints) is found
- Guide the product design including hardware and software as it relates to human factors
- Create concepts and prototypes based off feedback from stakeholders including surgeons
- Generate design requirements
- Generate relevant design output including design documents and architectures
- Support marketing in planning and executing formative studies and user testing trials
- Verify and validate design requirements as they pertain to human factors
- Support creation of instructions for use including workflow diagrams
- Run research studies, analyze data, and provide recommendations to project teams
- Conduct task flow analysis, usability testing, and use error analysis in an FDA-regulated industry for current product
- Oversee compliance with usability requirements per IEC 62366
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Factors Engineering or related field of study
- 3-6 years of relevant experience in medical device field
- Proficient with appropriate software tools including productivity software
- Confidence in your work and able to function autonomously; able to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Excellent collaboration, communication, leadership, influencing, and presentation skills
- Comfortable observing and participating in (as appropriate) live surgical settings (animals, cadavers, real surgery)
Nice-To-Have
- Experience with all phases of product development from concept to launch
- Hands-on prototyping skills
- Graphic design and artistic skills
- Experience and understanding of manufacturing processes
- UI/UX experience
