Us: 
We are a small group of repeat entrepreneurs. We've worked together in the past to build exciting, and successful, software platforms. We wear hats, a lot of hats. It's basically a hat shop. But at the end of the day we're creators who love to work hard and learn from each other. We might debate fiercely in the office, but at the end of the day we'll all share a few pints and laughs. We celebrate our successes and failures equally, and we never let an idea go unchallenged.

Our Tech: 
We're Java + JS, and AWS all the way, with a strong emphasis on DevOps. We'll be using S3, Elastic Beanstalk, Lambda, SQS, etc. We have a few frameworks in mind, e.g. JQuery, Apache OFBiz, and either Angular or React. We would like to use microservices, but are also mindful of over-engineering the solution. There is a tremendous opportunity here to influence the specifics of our stack.

Syndic8: 
After selling our last software company, we took a step back and evaluated a number of industries. We're process people as much as software people - we build software to help facilitate struggling processes. We dig until we find a problem so profound that non-software companies try to build software to fix a problem - that, to us, is the golden opportunity.

E-commerce is wrapped around traditional logistics - one of the oldest and least technologically-refined industries, yet also one which is exploding in growth. Manufacturers, brands, retailers, and marketplaces are technologically underwater, struggling to cope with today's data demands. We've built Syndic8 to unite all of these entities in a centralized, controlled, workflow-driven communication platform.

It's a tall task, but market reception has been fantastic - when we describe our goal, brand managers and retailers have described our future platform as "life changing"! We're both visionary and realistic in our expectations. We don't abuse buzzwords just to sound trendy - we will *actually* be using both AI and ML. But first things first - to get there we're going to need some help. Which brings us to...

You: 
You are a one-man SWAT team. You are as comfortable designing as you are executing; you're self-directed and confident, yet flexible enough to roll with the incredible pace of change in a small startup. You enjoy autonomy more than being given a task list (although those are fun too) - you are a true creator. There's no room for micromanagement here.

You'll work side-by-side with our architect, helping create an elegant front-end for the framework. You understand that if something hasn't been laid out for you, that means we expect you to make the appropriate analysis & decisions yourself, own your decision, and run with it. You also understand that, as with any pivot, we often have to scrap the beautiful things we've created to create better product-market fit.

You'll be a character fit if you: 

• enjoy the challenges and rewards of working in a *very* early stage startup (very strong preference for someone who has worked in a <50 person company). 
• are constantly tinkering (we love tinkerers!). 
• focus on your core strengths, but constantly stay up-to-date with the latest changes in software design/development. 
• enjoy challenging the status quo, and constantly come to your team with ideas for improvement. 
• know when to check in for approval vs. run with an idea. 
• view working for a large corporation as the death of productivity, innovation, intellectual stimulation, education, and pretty much any other goal of a company/job. 
• do not sit idle once a task is complete - you have a constant backlog of tasks, or things you want to learn. 
• have worked in a variety of team environments - distributed, remote, off-shore, near-shore, etc. 
• think that TCP/IP is one of the most under-appreciated accomplishments of modern computing. 
• want to create (and I really mean *create*) a fun, hard-working environment of peers with whom you're excited to slay the day. 
• don't get wrapped up in titles, and chip in on things that need doing without asking (even if they have absolutely nothing to do with your responsibilities).

You'll be a skills fit if you: 

• have 5+ years of architecting SaaS software from the ground up, either by yourself or in a small team. 
• can code JavaScript in your sleep, and use JS technologies such as Node, Express, and Angular. 
• are comfortable with Java, enough to intelligently interact with the backend developer & architect. 
• have previously integrated with micro-services. 
• have previous experience creating wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, etc. 
• bonus points if you can take on some elements of DevOps until we need to hire a dedicated resource for those efforts
