Flight Test Engineer
American Robotics is seeking Flight Test Engineers with experience working with automated unmanned aircraft systems who can help us expand our current test team. This position will work directly with individual contributors across departments and disciplines to test new system capabilities. The ideal candidate for this position is energetic and passionate about aerospace, drones, cutting edge technologies and testing.
Responsibilities
Daily duties include assisting with test planning, readiness, execution, and reporting, including but not exclusive to the following:

  • Flying development hardware and software on unmanned flight systems.
  • Validation of pre-release software as part of standardized software release strategies.
  • Communication and coordination of testing activities with all other disciplines and individual contributors.
  • Test documentation and reporting, including technical review and generation of test plans, instructions, test limitations, procedures and post flight reports
  • Coordination of developmental aircraft and experimental equipment configuration for test.
  • Proper use of safety and risk mitigation procedures as defined by the company policies, and compliance with FAA regulations and industry standard accepted practices.


Requirements

  • B.S in Engineering or Aerospace Field, applicants with significant experience without specified degree will be considered
  • 3+ Years of professional experience flight testing experience
  • Part 107 Certificate and recurrency if required
  • 50 Hours Minium of logged Part 107 Time
  • Experience with validation of software release strategies
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Articulate and precise verbal/written communication skills
  • Ability to use the Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs, or Confluence
  • Must have strong technical literacy
  • Working knowledge with FAA regulations
  • Demonstrated abilities in risk management, crew resource management and operational safety.


Preferred Skills, knowledge and Abilities

  • Private pilots' certificate or higher
  • Experience with the FAA aircraft certification process
  • Experience with defining and proving airworthiness
  • Experience supporting and developing manuals, bulletins or other FAA compliant literature
  • Experience with Test Rail and Jira
  • Experience working with drones or similarly complex electro-mechanical systems with a significant web / cloud software component

This position reports to the System Testing Manager under the VP of Engineering
