Job Description

Title: Devops Manager

 

CloudHealth by VMware is the global market leader in Cloud Service Management, and the most trusted software platform used to accelerate business transformation in the cloud. As a Manager of DevOps, you’ll have the opportunity to make a significant and direct impact on our products, platform, and tackle some of the most complex challenges in cloud computing.

 

This position is an opportunity to lead the DevOps team.  The DevOps team within CloudHealth is chartered with improving developer experience, maintaining the various production and staging environments and educating the engineering teams on devops practices.

  • You build measurable goals with your teams and direct reports and ensure they meet or exceed them.

  • You communicate good news and bad news early and often.

  • You never shy from making the difficult decisions.

  • You build a great working relationship with your peers within engineering.

 

You Have:

  • 3 or more years of experience running a DevOps team.

  • 5-7 years as a DevOps, Software Development or Operations Engineer

  • Experience is agile development methodologies

  • Experience delivering and maintaining SaaS applications.

  • Experience in continuous integration and continuous delivery methods and practices.

  • Deep understanding of cloud computing principles and practices.

  • Experience in delivering highly scalable products.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

 

Bonus Points for:

  • Big Data technologies such as Hadoop or HBase

  • Administration of technologies like MySQL, Redis, ElasticSearch or Resque

  • Monitoring and tuning a large-install containerized system using tools such as Datadog and Prometheus.

  • Log aggregation at scale using tools such as ELK or Splunk.

  • Sizing hardware and measuring the resulting performance
