Developer
Built on the InterSystems IRIS data platform, InterSystems HealthShare provides a unified, community-wide health record as the foundation for coordinated, value-based care and population health management.
Health Insight is the analytics platform for HealthShare, providing access to the clinical, claims, and administrative data in HealthShare in relational tables, and providing analytics tools and solutions for analyzing, reporting, and visualizing the data. This role will join the Health Insight scrum team as an experienced developer after receiving training on InterSystems technologies.
Job Role and Responsibilities
Work as a key contributor to the backend development of the Health Insight product, including data modeling, transmitting data from various sources to Health Insight data models, and creating tools and platform features used for developing analytics solutions
Improve performance of Health Insight data ingestion and query
Maintain and modify existing product features including bug fixes
Work with Product Owner and the team including other developers, quality software developers, and documentation to assess and translate product requirements effectively into software product features and fixes
Propose software designs based on requirements, provide evaluations on approaches considering effort, risk, quality, backward-compatibility, extensibility, and scalability, and implement the design
Provide comprehensive developer notes to facilitate testing and documentation of product features and changes
Contribute to product releases with high quality and on schedule
Stay up to date on industry trends and best practices and contribute to improving best practices in software development within the team and department
Mentor junior software developers via knowledge sharing, high-quality code review, and constructive feedback on peers’ software design and implementation
Experience & Qualifications
At least a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or STEM field
+ years of backend software development experience, preferably with large information systems
Solid understanding of software development process and proficient in object-oriented design and development
Experience with the architecture, design, and implementation of large systems involving complex data models and databases, web services, and messaging
Extensive knowledge of relational database and SQL language
Takes strong ownership of development work, is proactive and a strong team player
Experience with Agile and Scrum development methodologies is preferable
Desired Skills
Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages (e.g., Java, C#, C++)
Ability to learn quickly, and work independently and as part of a team
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and prioritization skills
Capable of communicating complex technical concepts, design ideas, and implementation details in writing and verbally
Prior work experience in healthcare software development is preferable such as healthcare data modeling, loading, transform, analytics etc. is a plus
Prior work experience with InterSystems products and/or programming language (Caché Object Script) is a plus
