What you’ll do: 

You will be creating new email templates for B2B and B2C communication that are sent to our large and rapidly growing E&R (Experiences and Rentals) user base. 

You'll play an important role in QAing template functionality and making sure our emails adhere to design standards set for each one of our E&R family of brands. You will be responsible for coding in a manner that displays consistently across major email platforms. Familiarity with email platform quirks is a must.

E&R services 38 points of sale with 17 languages across 11 brands. Maintaining consistent functionality across all touches requires an eye for detail, and a drive to work efficiently is important, so as a coder you will be working with market specialists to ensure that our email campaigns are fully localized and optimized to our multilingual user base. 

You'll be working closely with the E&R CRM Engineering team to ensure the output of their work interacts with the email's templating logic to the satisfaction of the project and the campaign needs. Delivering the most engaging experience using dynamic and variable content is what we strive for. 

Some projects will require you to pull data to put together lists for one off sends, so experience with SQL and an understanding of relational databases is a plus. 

Managing lead times with the Design and CRM Engineering teams to ensure receipt of all design and data points in a timely fashion is a key part of our team's philosophy.

Through it all, you'll be expected to be able to give continuous constructive feedback to the rest of the team including other coders, designers, copywriters, and project managers to better development and increase efficiency.

What We Seek:

We are searching for an enthusiastic team player who has an exceptionally keen eye for detail. The ideal person for this role will be data-minded but with an eye for aesthetics. It’s important that all of our emails stay true to the look and feel of our E&R brands. You should be comfortable prioritizing tasks and managing multiple strands of work from week to week. You will be able to see your hard work on our campaigns have a direct and noticeable impact in terms of engagement.

Experience:

• At least 3 years of experience coding emails, including responsive design for mobile, and an intimate knowledge of the display quirks that the major email platforms have

• Prior experience creating and editing emails for delivery by platforms such as ExactTarget, preferably for an online travel business

• Some experience scripting web pages or email templates

• Mobile Optimization and Personalization experience

• Experience with text editing tools such as Sublime Text, Eclipse, or BBEdit

• Some prior localization experience is a bonus, but interest in this area is sufficient

• SQL and experience with relational databases would be a bonus

• Some travel-related experience would be a bonus

Qualifications:

• University degree (or equivalent) required.

Language skills:

• Fluent written and spoken English with another European language preferred

Skills/Knowledge:

• Proficient knowledge of a high-performance text and HTML editor, as well as ExactTarget

• Advanced user of Adobe Photoshop

• Familiarity and knowledge of email marketing, including deliverability and rendering best practices
