Chief Engineer- Vanishing Aircraft Development

Our specially selected team of engineers, software developers and scientists develop algorithms, software integrated prototypes and solutions for Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Manned and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, Mission Planning, and Situational Awareness.
As the Chief Engineer for Vanishing Systems at MORSE, you will lead a program with the goal of transitioning novel aircraft designs, leveraging a novel vanishing polymer technology, from R&D to operational systems. As the Chief Engineer, your impact will be both programmatic and technical. You will work directly with the customers, manage schedules and budgets while leading a technical team and driving the technical direction of the technology development.
This role is unique, spans multiple programs, and provides the opportunity to develop different products at every stage of the lifecycle. The role also allows for interactions across multiple domains including: program management; aircraft design and analysis; avionics development including electronics design, autonomy software design, and actuator design and mechanical packaging; and chemistry and materials science.

Candidates that are technically strong across a breadth of engineering disciplines, with the ability to lead technical teams will thrive in this role. Candidates must have experience interfacing with external customers from the Aerospace, Defense, and research communities. The candidate should be passionate about developing and delivering highly reliable novel technologies to support the US warfighter and ensure the integrity of national security.
As the Chief Engineer for Vanishing Systems at MORSE, you will be responsible for working with customers and users to identify current and future operational needs. The Chief Engineer for Vanishing Systems will use this information to: direct the fundamental research to advance the core polymer and aircraft technologies; ensure engineering designs meet customer needs and are developed with technical rigor; and lead test programs to evaluate, validate and mature designs.
US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED or the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance
Experience leading and organizing DT&E and V&V test programs
Experience leading fundamental research and R&D programs
Strong background in aerospace and defense technologies for aircraft systems and autonomy.
Demonstrated performance in managing program budgets and schedules to successful program conclusion.
Experience managing external suppliers and subcontractors.
Proven record interfacing with customers and developing external relationships.
Experience with proposal writing and costing.
Experience with hiring and staffing engineering teams.
MS or PhD in engineering or equivalent degree, at least 10 years of technical experience, and at least 3 years of program management experience in aerospace and defense or related domain.
