Superpedestrian is seeking a hands-on Battery Systems Engineer to drive the design and implementation of rechargeable batteries for light electric vehicles. Working with the firmware, electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing teams, you will ensure that all of our light EV sharing products perform beyond expectations. You will work closely as part of our embedded systems team to design and engineer vehicle batteries, safety systems, and software to ensure reliable and safe batteries for use in our sharing fleets around the world.


What you’ll do:

Own the overall system design of Superpedestrian's battery systems

Drive the architecture of the system throughout the lifecycle from manufacturing, system validation, operation, charging, and decommissioning

Generate detailed engineering requirements from internal product requirements and applicable regulatory standards

Coordinate the peer review process for hardware and software development for battery systems to include all stakeholders

Analyze test data to validate system performance

Test and coordinate battery charger design

Hands-on support of test development and execution

Lead technical risk identification and mitigation efforts including DFMEA

Investigate new technologies


What we’re looking for:

BS in Electrical Engineering

5-8 years of electrical engineering experience, specifically experience in designing rechargeable batteries for electric vehicles

Lithium-ion battery experience a must

Demonstrated experience with certification, including applicable standards (e.g. ISO, IEC, EN, UL...)

Experience designing, testing, and selecting battery chargers

Experience with hazard analysis and FMEA is desired
