Job introduction:
The Corporate Functions Technology Shared Services department is looking to hire a Software Engineer. This candidate will join an API development squad that is focused on delivering modern, well-architected, cloud-first solutions that provide reusable and cost-effective access to essential data for our business partners across Liberty Mutual. The squad is currently comprised of experienced agile engineers who own and support all aspects of their API product platforms. We firmly believe in, and nurture innovation with dedicated innovation sprints, departmental hackathons, and time for personal development.
About the job:

  • API development using AWS serverless technology (CDK, Lambda, TypeScript)
  • Data handling using ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) techniques
  • Practicing advanced modern agile software delivery concepts
  • The opportunity to work with a variety of APIs (20+) and modern technologies
  • You'll take advantage of a mature onboarding and mentorship program

Qualifications
Desired skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3+ years of software engineering experience with focus on backend development.
  • Experience working in an agile environment utilizing Scrum, Kanban or XP.
  • Demonstrated success in platform modernization initiatives, utilizing technologies such as REST; micro services; cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud; and Java, NodeJS and Spring Boot.
  • An ability to code in multiple languages, including an object-oriented language, preferably JavaScript, TypeScript, Java.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills-and a knack for explaining your decision-making process to non-engineers.
  • A collaborative, adaptable working style, demonstrated initiative and the ability to prioritize your time and efforts.
  • A thorough grasp of technology concepts, business operations, design and development tools, system architecture and technical standards.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps tools.
