The Role:

The Fitbit Health Solutions team is committed to empowering individuals to take control of their health and equipping health coaches and other healthcare providers with tools that optimize collaboration and care.

YOU are a talented Android Engineer focused on shipping the best quality software. You value autonomy, ownership, and collaborative, fast-moving environments. You enjoy analyzing problems and architecting solutions, and believe that every interaction the customer has should be compelling and first rate. You write clear and concise code using modern tools and frameworks.

As an Android Engineer, you will understand the needs of our users and work closely with a cross-functional team to craft simple and high quality interfaces and interactions.

What You’ll Work On:

  • Engineering delivery of Fitbit digital health experiences to millions of users with Java, Kotlin, and related mobile and web stack tools and technologies
  • Work closely with product owners, designers, marketers, and other engineers
  • Collaborative ownership of key mobile experiences
  • Participate in all aspects of product development from feature definition and estimation, to architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, measurement, and refinement
  • Expand our existing set of automated tests and work with test engineers to deliver high end-to-end product quality
  • Grow and develop your career in a community of Android engineers


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent skill
  • Professional experience in Java or Kotlin, with solid CS fundamentals (data structures and algorithms)
  • 1+ years of experience building software and a deep desire to be a great Android engineer
  • Strong design sense, with an ability to implement user interface designs precisely and consistently across a wide range of devices


Preferred Experience:

  • Experience building applications with the Android SDK
  • Experience in user-centered design methods, exploration, storytelling, and detailed interaction design
  • Testing and deploying software with robust credentialing and access controls
  • Experience working with large business customers, especially in the healthcare space
  • Experience with WebSockets
