Job Summary:
Responsible for conceptualizing, communicating, designing front-end user interfaces and related user-centered design artifacts. This position focuses on user-centered design, to be deployed through a variety of digital channels. The person in this position is proficient at gathering user and stakeholder input, reviewing metrics and at conceptualizing to produce high-quality user-friendly designs.  To create and produce user-centered designs and interfaces, the person in this position relies not only on design skills and artistry, and interpersonal skills with users and clients, but also able to deliver front end code (such as HTML5, CSS3, and java script) as it relates to user experience for use on digital channels.  The UX/UI Designer works closely with developers, digital strategists, product manager, business analysts, and communications team members to enhance and maintain the Bank’s digital product portfolio, including digital publications, information graphics, mobile applications, web sites, email marketing campaigns, and other design solutions.

Principal Accountabilities:
1. Consult with users, stakeholders, developers, and communications peers to formulate designs that address business and user goals. Incorporate user research to deliver strong designs for digital interfaces and other designed artifacts.
2. Create design artifacts including sketches, scenarios, sitemaps, storyboards, wireframes, and prototypes that reflect responsive design of user experience across multiple devices.
3. Effectively present design recommendations and iterate with the team and stakeholders.
4. Translate designs into working front-end interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other frameworks/tools.
5. Design and develop digital publications, information graphics, mobile applications, web sites, email marketing campaigns, and other design solutions.
6. Support the concept of user-centric design and communications.
7. Effectively work with the software development team to support, clarify, and troubleshoot the implementation of design concepts.  Participate in the interaction design process from concept through final implementation (and ongoing enhancement).  Raise design, usability, and accessibility issues that arise during the product development lifecycle and help mitigate them.
8. Work productively and collaboratively with clients and users. Demonstrate flexibility, versatility, collegiality, and stakeholder focus. Advise, support, and partner with stakeholders on the most effective, evolving approaches.
9. Engage other team members, developers, and people around the Bank adopting user-centric design and communications, and in advancing the Bank's “brand” and reputation through various channels.
10. Demonstrate problem-solving skills by initiating improvements and pursuing opportunities for innovation in design, user experience, and accessibility.  Adapt designs of channels, assets, and artifacts to address needs and solve problems.

Other Accountabilities:
Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervision:
This position is not required to directly supervise others.

Knowledge and Experience:

• Experience with interaction design, visual design, and human-computer interaction.
• Experience working iteratively with software developers in an Agile development framework.
• Knowledge and understanding of front-end coding practices and ability to produce assets/code for front-end development.
• Expertise with UX (user experience) in web, mobile and digital publishing and the impact on the feasibility of designs.  Ability to make sound recommendations based on observed user behavior and metrics.
• Demonstrated proficiency with the tools of the design trade including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Fireworks, Flash, Dreamweaver, and others.
