About this roll*: (Responsibilities)

The Employee Cloud is a suite of products to help restaurants manage a product team and includes Payroll & Team Management, Scheduling, Pay Card, and Tips Manager. As Employee Cloud’s Chief Architect, you will bring your wisdom, skills, and talents to help our teams build the best employee management suite for restaurants in the world.
In this role you will:

  • Report to the VP of Engineering for Employee Cloud.
  • Collaborate with our senior leadership on business and product strategy.
  • Set an architectural strategy for Employee Cloud that enables the business and product strategy.
  • Dive deep with our engineers and provide support, feedback, and coaching. 
  • Identify the highest-impact areas for technical investment to make our teams more effective and our solutions higher quality.
  • Provide oversight for key projects so we get things right more often. 
  • Organizational leadership including recruiting, promotions and performance feedback, strategic planning, M&A, and cross-engineering mechanisms.

Do you have the right ingredients*? (Qualities & Essential Skills):

  • Motivated by purpose to help restaurants thrive.
  • Deep experience in highly-complex business domains. We deal with complex business domains and many products that must work together cohesively while being able to be built and managed by independent teams.
  • Deep experience in large micro-service environments. We’re on a journey from monoliths to microservices and want your wisdom to help us avoid common pitfalls.
  • Effective communicating with a variety of audiences - engineers, product managers, designers, and senior leadership.
  • Deep experience operating mission critical systems reliably at scale. We want to proactively remediate risks before they become incidents.
  • Experience with our tech stack is a plus.
  • Experience in high-growth, public companies is a plus.

  • AWS supported microservices
  • A core of Kotlin/Java-based backend services.
  • React frontend leveraging GraphQL
  • PostgreSQL and Dynamodb as core persistence.
  • Pulsar and  Camel for message-based integrations.

The base salary range for this role is listed below. The starting salary will be determined based on skills and experience. In addition to base salary, our total rewards components include cash compensation (overtime, bonus/commissions if eligible), equity, and benefits.

$200,000$320,000 USD
