Product Designer

Boston

At PatientPing, our vision is bold – to build a national care coordination network that allows providers to put patients at the center of their care. And we believe that the typical healthcare software system under-invests in user empathy, leading to successful sales but disappointed users. We’re looking to change that. We are a venture-backed health technology company based in Boston, MA that is transforming healthcare delivery. We are building a national network that connects providers with real-time notifications when their patients receive care anywhere, so that providers can better coordinate patient care. Our customers include hundreds of health systems, physician organizations, and post-acute care providers across the country.

Job Description:

As the first Product Designer joining PatientPing, you will have a unique opportunity to craft and structure how we integrate design into the product process. You will be working closely with our engineers, product managers, and operations managers to concept, design, prototype, test, and iterate on solutions that meaningfully connect providers to seamlessly coordinate patient care. We’re looking for a product designer who thrives in ambiguity, deeply understands and can champion our users, and design solutions that are equally thoughtful, elegant, and delightful.

What You Will Do:

•Work with the team to identify product and market gaps and opportunities, then help us drive through design explorations quickly to test them out. As we find ideas that resonate with users, work to bring those designs from low-fidelity concepts to final implementable designs and ship them to our end-users.

•Explore and innovate around the succinct display of rich and complex data, to drive business value.

•Understand the interplay between user needs, data, business goals, and clinical workflow insight, and use this to drive delivery of outstanding product design.

What You Need:

•Academic or professional experience as a product/experience designer, including the delivery of several substantial projects from start to finish. It’s important that you’ve been a part of an in-house product team.

•Proven experience with complex systems and workflows, and in particular a willingness to help balance user needs, business goals, and workflow insights. Understanding both the customer and user needs , and how to design in those contexts, is also key.

•Able to run the gamut of design activities, including a comfort with low-fidelity prototypes to facilitate quick feedback, all the way up to production-ready designs, and the wisdom to know when to use which approach.

•Ability to incorporate data & user feedback, along with product & design instincts, to craft outstanding experiences

•An online portfolio demonstrating selections of your professional work for our review.

What Would Be A Plus:

•A demonstrated interest in healthcare, and/or specific experience designing for healthcare providers. Much of what we do involves making simple a fairly complex and specific problem area -- if you’re already familiar with the players and issues it’ll be a great accelerant.

•A degree in visual or graphic design. While we’re primarily looking for someone to help us with flows, wireframes, and the application experience, we are a small shop so you get to wear many hats.

•Front-end experience with CSS3, HTML5, modern JavaScript frameworks, and Flux/React. As above, if you’re able to both design an experience and help us render it in code, it’s great to know that too.

What You Get:

•Be on the ground floor of a rapidly growing company with many opportunities to expand the role and responsibilities

•Have the autonomy to build something with a brilliant and enthusiastically supportive team

•Learn best practices from world class investors and advisors

•Become an expert on healthcare delivery system transformation

•Receive cash and equity compensation with health, dental, and other benefits
