Lead UX Designer- Data Visualization

You will join the UX team in Corporate Functions to support LMI to create and deliver world-class products and tools for Liberty Mutual employees.
About the Role:
The Lead UX Designer- Data Visualization strives to deliver user-friendly and accurate tools for reporting, data, and analytical insights to create people-related strategies and narratives across investments. This role is responsible for ensuring the efficiency of the Liberty Mutual Investments Team by identifying areas for improvement and addressing said areas by building solutions that are flexible and can scale. The ideal candidate will have an advanced user research background. You will independently design and execute research to understand our users' needs, synthesize findings, and create excellent and polished user experiences.
You are an experienced qualitative or mixed-methods UX researcher who can help deeply understand the needs of our internal customers and translate those into improved experiences. In this role, you will seek to understand the "why" behind the behaviors and attitudes of the wide variety of customers using Liberty Mutual Investments data platform and tools. These efforts will ensure the experiences we create are easy to use, useful, and efficient.
You have extensive experience with a variety of user research methods and best practices as well as demonstrated experience partnering with and influencing your peers in Design, Product, and Engineering to help guide the vision of the products we develop and deliver research to inform world-class experiences that our customers will value highly.
Responsibilities:

  • Drive the development and implementation of data visualization solutions that inform, influence, and support investment decisions for the LMI team and our stakeholders
  • Build and maintain user-friendly Tableau dashboards which empower operational and exploratory analysis for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Leverage technical expertise and creative problem solving to build, enhance, and automate analytics and dashboarding capabilities for the team and various stakeholders
  • Understand user behavior and motivations: use qualitative and quantitative research methods to gain deep user insights
  • Evaluative research - assessing our existing product ecosystem with an eye for incremental improvements and refinements
  • Generative research - assessing gaps in our user journey and how they engage with our offerings
  • Design research studies, gather data, synthesize it into actionable insights and disseminate findings to various teams through reports and presentations
  • Create research reports, user journey maps, workflows, personas, day-in-the-life scenarios, and use case summaries to help deepen organizational understanding of our users
  • Contribute to the overall vision and user interface solutions for current and future experiences from concept exploration to implementation.
  • Work autonomously and able to prioritize effectively without losing sight of the big picture


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or Minimum 8 years' experience in UX or Product design
  • Demonstrated experience in graphic/information design,
  • Experience with information visualization principles and techniques,
  • Knowledge of Human Factors or Data Visualization Design
  • Familiarity with tools such DASH, Plotly and PowerBI
  • Experience with SQL (or similar language aimed at querying relational databases) a plus
  • Experience interacting with non-technical stakeholders and uncovering user needs while dealing with ambiguous and changing priorities
  • Experience researching for internal tools or enterprise web-based products
  • Flexible approach to research: Familiarity with a variety of research methods, at all stages of the product development process
  • Experience doing research on data presentation and visualization
  • Excellent story-telling abilities and facilitation skills
