The Role:
The product team at Carrot Fertility is seeking a Director of User Experience to guide the sibling functions of product design and content design. The right person will have tremendous people management skills; a deep understanding of content design, product design, and UX research; strong product sense; a commitment to nuance, context, and quality; and an appetite for wrangling complex, intersecting systems, and priorities.
The Team:
Carrot’s UX teams sit at the nexus of many functions; they're fast-moving, adaptable, and highly collaborative. In this role, you’ll report to Carrot’s Chief Product Officer and work closely with product managers, UX practitioners, and engineers.
You will:
- Develop a vision for UX at Carrot, guiding the team toward it while remaining adaptable
- Influence senior leadership, using data and storytelling to continually connect UX investment to business priorities
- Represent UX in strategic planning, cross-functional coordination, and high-impact decision making
- Design opportunities for team innovation, collaboration, efficiency, and learning
- Act as a mentor for the managers of content design and product design
- Create frameworks, tools, and workshops to promote alignment, motivation, and exploration of complex topics
- Evolve our nascent UXR program
Minimum Qualifications:
- Substantial experience leading teams made up of both leaders and ICs
- Nuanced perspective on multidisciplinary UX and how to achieve greater maturity
- A record of influencing leadership in support of both UX and users
- Experience integrating user research and testing into the UX process at scale
- Uncommon empathy and listening skills, particularly with regard to quiet or marginalized voices
- Exacting attention to both design and organizational detail
- Demonstrated ability to enrich a team's culture and cross-functional partnerships
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills across different contexts
- A record of attracting, recruiting, and retaining exceptional talent
- Sensitivity to the challenges of fertility health and family forming around the world
- Mastery of common back- and front-end platforms, and key methodologies (e.g., voice/tone frameworks, design systems, service blueprints)
- An appetite for the segmentation and complexity of a modular, global employer benefit
- Experience with localization, curiosity about users' differing needs around the world, and excitement to help deepen and broaden our product to increase its value globally
Compensation:
Carrot offers a holistic Total Rewards package designed to support our employees in all aspects of their life inside and outside of work, including health and wellness benefits, retirement savings plans, short- and long-term incentives, parental leave, family-forming assistance, and a competitive compensation package. The expected base salary for this position will range from $175,000 - $250,000. Actual compensation may vary from posted base salary depending on your confirmed job-related skills and experience.
