Creative Director
We’re looking for a Creative Director to join our Brand & Experience team, reporting to our Director of Brand. This person will be empowered to own, define, test, and evolve our brand voice and have heavy input on our overall brand strategy. This person will be responsible for defining our messaging structure and create strategies on how our messages are executed. This person will also have a passion for mentorship and be excited at the potential to create a division of the Brand & Experience team dedicated to messaging, writing, and our brand voice as our company grows.
In this role, the ideal candidate will be able to develop ideas and campaign concepts that meet business goals and direct designers and other creatives to execute these ideas. The candidate will be able to run with assigned projects from beginning to end, and proactively contribute creative solutions to observed problems, as well as reactively problem-solve when approached by other business units.
This person should have a background in writing of all types; from advertisements, to scripts, to blogs, etc. and be able to execute and direct the writing across all media types with ease. This person should also be able to direct the visual design of projects and have experience steering design teams to success.
This role requires the direction and hands on execution of creative projects across all medias, including, but not limited to, digital experiences, print design, video, conference experiences, multi-media campaigns, and more. The ideal candidate will have had experience in all of these areas and a proven track record of driving large projects to success.
Responsibilities:
- Develop our brand voice, ensure consistency in all communications where high brand impression matters – website, advertising creative, paid search copy.
- Execute creative ideation, execution & direction from project conception to completion. These projects will be mid/high effort projects across all mediums; projects are across all mediums; Video, Print, Web, digital, etc.
- Partner with Product Marketing, Leadership, and others to create messaging, provocations, writing scripts, etc at a higher quality and faster pace than we’re currently able to.
- Create, document, and evolve Dynatrace’s messaging strategy and execution of that strategy as it relates to our ‘Why’, ‘How’, and ‘What’. This documentation would sit within Dynatrace’s brand guidelines.
- Join forces with team members and internal clients to translate prospect needs and business goals into impactful and effective design solutions.
- Direct the design of data-visualizations that are intuitive and beautiful.
- Direct the creation visual design systems for digital campaigns, websites, web applications, mobile applications, and responsive web design.
- Partner with designers, art directors, motion designers, user experience architects, and developers to develop and iterate a visual design that exceeds the goals of the project.
- Clearly communicate concepts in a professional, inspirational, and logical manner.
- Mentor junior members of the creative team.
- Demonstrate a passion for the discipline and act as a creative thought leader.
- Stay on top of improving one’s skills and developing trends.
- Lead testing efforts and be able to decipher and implement learnings.
- Able to direct photo & video shoots.
- Able to bring an idea from conception, the plan of execution, through execution and launch.
- Able to collaborate, direct, or execute writing scripts
- Collaborate with graphic designers for medium/high-effort projects
- Be a fountain of ideas and zero-ego collaborator
- Collaborate with marketing and product teams, other designers and internal corporate groups, across all levels within the organization to deliver consistent brand and continuously evolve Dynatrace’s visual style, voice and tone.
- Work to build relationships internally advocating for messaging and design thinking, communicating design concepts, rationale, both verbally and visually.
- Work with Senior/Junior Designers on landing pages, digital ads, emails, banners, signage, infographics, print collateral, presentation and icons to convey complex technology concepts clearly and simply.
- Work to get buy-in and implement feedback from leadership according to business goals.
Requirements:
- Writing experience across all relevant medias (banner ads, website copy, billboards, conference experiences, brand messaging, etc)
- Conceptual thinking and ability to deliver a thoughtful point-of-view about creative work.
- 10+ years of creative design experience, and able to provide a portfolio of creative work.
- Experience with UX, digital, print, motion and video content creation and compatibility. Skilled with Video / Photography (editing or videography) a plus.
- Attentive to detail and devotion to quality and upholding our brand.
- Able to independently problem solve with the ability to know when to ask for additional help or guidance.
- Ability to think outside the box and energized by new ideas.
- Ability to collaborate with other marketing teams and external vendors.
- Passionate problem solver with a figure-it-out approach, that isn’t afraid to say “I don’t know” followed by an enthusiastic “but I’m on it!”
- High energy and strong interpersonal skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to manage several projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to ramp up quickly with detailed content, and to stay current with new product developments.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills and strong presentation skills.
- Intelligent thinking, organization, and accuracy.
- Occasional travel domestically or internationally (no more than once per quarter).
