Position Summary:

The Senior Healthcare Market Data & Analytics Associate is an expert on healthcare market data and data analysis who is passionate about driving data-driven strategic insights for stakeholders across athena. S/He works with senior leadership and stakeholders in Marketing, Sales, Account Management, and Product teams on analyses of the healthcare market and drives athena’s efforts to enhance our best-in-class healthcare market data.

The role conducts strategic market assessment projects - market identification, segmentation, sizing - and works with stakeholders on driving business outcomes based on healthcare market data. S/He is constantly on the lookout for new ways that healthcare market data and new analytics techniques can drive value for athena and proactively investigating promising new sources of healthcare market data. S/He also works with stakeholders to understand their data needs, propose solutions for obtaining and easily accessing this data, and works with our offshore operations and Enterprise Technology teams to acquire data, improve data quality, and integrate it with our Salesforce instance.

The ideal candidate has excellent data analysis skills, is knowledgeable about the healthcare market and healthcare market data, is experienced working with multiple stakeholders and managing projects independently, is familiar with Salesforce/CRM systems, thinks strategically, and is a great team player.

Responsibilities:

  • Market analysis and analytics (40%)
    • Proposes, designs, and executes market analysis and analytics projects (e.g., market segmentation, sizing, data visualization, etc.)
    • Creates or contributes to reports that provide insight on healthcare market segments
  • Market data acquisition, integration and quality (40%)
    • Proposes, designs, and executes projects to augment athena’s healthcare market data
    • Proactively identifies and evaluates new sources of healthcare market data (e.g., government data sources, 3rd party data vendors, primary research) and works to integrate these sources with existing market data
    • Manages relationships with data vendors
    • Works independently and with cross-functional teams to identify issues, research probable root causes, recommend and execute solutions to data related matters that address the accuracy, and completeness, of athena’s healthcare market data
    • Creates or contributes to reports that document athena’s healthcare market data
  • Stakeholder management (20%)
    • Proactively reaches out to and responds to stakeholders in Product Marketing, Marketing, Sales, Account Management, and Product teams to understand and meet market data needs
    • Coordinates with Sales/Marketing/IT operations teams that affect or leverage market data in their processes

Education, Experience, & Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, Computer Science, etc.) or healthcare-related field (e.g., Health Policy) - (Graduate degree preferred)
  • 3-7 years of data/analytics/quantitative research experience
  • Experience in healthcare, health policy, and/or working with healthcare market data
  • Experience managing projects and working with senior management
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Experience with databases and/or CRM systems e.g.:
    • Has experience using and extracting data out of relational databases, data warehouses and incomplete data sources in order to gain business insight and resolution
    • Familiarity with CRM systems (ideally Salesforce), databases, and data cleaning (e.g. deduplication tools)
    • Experience with SQL or other querying languages
  • Experience with data analysis tools e.g.:
    • Excellent Excel skills and experience with data modeling
    • Experience with analytics tools or related programming languages preferred (e.g. Tableau, R, RapidMiner, Python, and/or PERL)
    • Experience with statistical analysis software a plus (e.g., Stata, R, SAS, etc.)
