About the position
BookBub is seeking an experienced analyst capable of providing analytical guidance and support to our consumer-facing teams as they work to accelerate user acquisition and improve customer retention. You will work with marketers, product managers, and engineers on our Consumer team to optimize our strategy, develop and test hypotheses, and measure the success of our efforts. You will also work directly with our Head of Consumer Growth & Engagement and will be a key contributor in our planning and strategic development process. As an experienced analyst, you will be a critical member of the Analytics team, serving as an informational resource and guide to other analysts. You will share knowledge and experience in marketing analytics, modeling, forecasting and experiment design/analysis as we continue developing a world-class Analytics team at BookBub.
Here’s an example of what someone can expect to accomplish in their first year in the position:
- Become a trusted partner for the Consumer team, adopting their objectives as your own and providing thought partnership and analytical guidance on a daily basis
- Develop a deep understanding of BookBub’s users and the broader market, and use this knowledge to guide our Consumer team as they develop new features, user experiences and services
- Guide the experiment design and analysis process for the Consumer team. Evaluate product changes, test new hypotheses and contribute to a growing knowledge base about our customers and industry
- Develop and maintain models as needed to support marketing strategy (e.g. customer lifetime value, ROI and marketing channel performance, customer engagement and retention forecasts, etc.)
- Bring analytical rigor and expertise to our acquisition marketing process, guiding marketers as they optimize channel spend for performance
- Develop and maintain performance metrics that guide our teams on a day-to-day basis
- Share your experience and expertise with other analysts as we work to grow and develop our capabilities individually and as a team
- Continue to develop your own abilities and hone your analytical skills through active learning and challenging projects
Ideal candidates for this position will have:
- Excellent communication skills, especially in the communication of complex topics to general audiences
- A passion for learning, discovery, and tackling big challenges as part of a team
- Extensive analytics experience in a consumer-oriented web-based business
- Successful track record supporting marketing teams in user/customer acquisition and retention
- Extensive knowledge of experiment design, statistical testing and analysis
- Knowledge of web analytics, including the ability to work with transactional databases and server logs to understand user journeys and behavior
- Comfort with a variety of modeling methods and their applications (e.g. regression, classification and forecasting models)
- Comfort with one or more statistical software packages (e.g. SAS, SPSS, R, Python with Pandas, etc.)
- Demonstrated proficiency in SQL
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS Excel and/or Google Sheets
- Knowledge of common BI tools (e.g. Tableau, Looker, etc.)
