Position Summary

The Principal Scientist will join a dynamic team responsible for supporting successful biopharma customer use of the REFS software platform. This individual will be responsible for consulting with license clients on precision medicine and biomarker applications of REFS. Responsibilities will include assisting client users in scientific problem formulation, data assessment, and model design, and partnering with client users on interpretation and value of scientific results generated by the REFS platform. This individual will have a highly visible role both internally and at the client. Title and supervisory opportunities will be commensurate with candidate experience.

Responsibilities

  • In-depth understanding of the application of REFS for precision medicine, biomarker discovery, and patient stratification use cases
  • Scientific rigor and creativity in addressing client precision medicine business needs
  • Assist clients in assessment of clinical trial and omics datasets for REFS modeling
  • Support modeling workflows and model interpretation by license clients
  • As needed, perform data preprocessing and predictive or causal modeling for clients using proprietary and off-the-shelf tools
  • Troubleshoot with clients to assist them in tailoring the REFS platform for their needs
  • Support training of internal and external customers on the REFS platform
  • Support pre-sales and business development activities as needed

Requirements

  • PhD with 5-8 years of experience developing computational or statistical models and interpreting data focused on precision medicine, biomarker discovery and patient stratification
  • Biopharma experience in applying precision medicine approaches to drug development or translational science is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated aptitude for connecting computational results to biological or drug development insights
  • Experience handling and manipulating large omics and clinical data sets
  • Proficiency in at least one statistical programming or numerical computing language; experience with R preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication; a clear ability to communicate technical material to non-technical audiences simply and clearly
  • Experience working in an interdisciplinary environment is a plus
  • Passion to learn new things and solve problems
