Accelerating growth in digital and personalization capabilities, PDL is an innovation lab focused on meeting the changing needs of customers, regardless of when, where, and how consumers choose to shop.  

Peapod continues to be a consumer-facing eCommerce brand, and is part of Peapod Digital Labs, focused on growing Peapod sales to consumers.

Provides leadership within the DiPLA (Digital, Personalization, Loyalty & Analytics) organization in developing best in class data strategies and best practices for downstream data-driven applications. Defines and leads the development of a comprehensive data road map as well as monitors industry changes to stay abreast of new data trends and innovation including both 1st party and 3rd party integration. Oversee all aspects of data needs within DiPLA and PDL including but not limited to efficient organization of data, standardization of metric definitions, data quality management, prioritization of data movement and governance. Works closely with the banners from a strategic perspective to understand their vision of customer personalization and loyalty which serves as a guide to inform which data-driven solutions will help bring these experiences to life.


Recipe for Success - What's "in store" for the role

  • Leverages and creates best in class data operations processes and standard practices to ensure efficiency in campaign and analytic/reporting tools for a streamlined/responsive end-user experience.
  • Responsible for supporting each brand and DiPLA in all aspects of marketing and reporting needs specifically in the data requirements therein (i.e. data availability, data acquisition, data quality, and data latency, etc.).
  • Partners with the brands to create strategies to leverage future data sources and expand digital capabilities such as web, social, and customer call center to ensure omnichannel capabilities across the enterprise.
  • Continue to evaluate in improve current 1st party data to better support our ever-growing personalization and loyalty needs.
  • Develop a formal data strategy/roadmap that aligns strategically with brand and eCommerce planning and strategy to ensure accurate and aligned execution.
  • Implement and maintain a strong Data Quality Management (DQM) process to ensure strong end-to-end confidence in the data.
  • Sit upon the Data Governance Council and represent the business strategic needs for IT.
  • Identify and evaluate potential partners for new data acquisitions that align with the strategic needs of the enterprise.
  • Cultivates a team of data experts and partners with IT to develop and execute data structures and ETL scripts
  • Lead automation, recency, and personalization efforts to improve efficiency and reactiveness


The Essentials In Your Cart - The required ingredients

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or Business Intelligence or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in database marketing, data administration and technology.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience overseeing enterprise-level data strategies preferably with a focus on personalization and loyalty.
  • Requires travel – typically 10 - 25%

  • Campaign and/or Analytical Tool expertise
  • SQL, ETL, and deep database knowledge
  • Ability to identify data opportunities and inefficiencies in database operations and development
  • Strategy focused operations leader who partners with brand and DiPLA leaders to improve customer personalization and loyalty
  • Clearly communicate a path to resolution and lead team through successful execution of the data strategy.
  • Ability to lead direct reports through coaching and developmental feedback; ensures development plans are in place.
  • Ability to lead teams through the development of strong working relationships and alliances within the company. Specifically lead a cross-functional team that supports Loyalty, Digital and IT teams.
  • Ability to lead agency teams to ensure strategic initiatives are met and KPI's are delivered.
  • Proven ability in the design and develop of innovative solutions.
  • Proven ability to interpret and enhance cross-functional data requirements, quickly assess change impact and mitigate any adverse issues.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrate a personal acceptance of change and the ability to adapt and drive change throughout the organization.
  • High degree of credibility and the ability to work with and through all levels of management.
  • Self-motivated and persuasive in presenting and selling ideas and executing their implementation.
